Hello,
I wonder if anyone has any clock or watches by makers from Kirkcudbright or Castle Douglas in south-west Scotland. I have a family interest in makers who resided there and would be grateful to know if anyone has any examples in their collection or for sale.
Very best wishes,

Hello,
Does anyone in England or around the UK know of any maps that provide points of reference to locations of historical clocks around the UK? For example, an online map of some kind that specifically points someone to where all the historical clocks are around the entire UK? If someone wanted to travel the UK to see points of references of clocks, where would they look? This would be extremely important because, for example, journeys to visit, study or research these clocks could be done...

Hello. I have attached images of a Metamec Quartz Clock which works for a short time and then stops. It has a known working battery and has just started working again whilst positioning it to be photographed.
I have cleaned the + and - contacts, one of which had green corrosion.
The Pat No on the clock is 2015207.
Can the movement be replaced or is it a cleaning job?
Thanks ..read more

Dear all,
as a fan of sir Kenneth Grange I purchased on eBay a (non-working) Short & Mason / Taylor Instr. Ranger clock. On the inside is a black, 45mm diameter 'swiss made' clock design. I haven't screwed it open yet. Does someone know it can be repaired easily? Battery powered or does it need to be wound up (top small screw or the thicker one at the bottom)?
Any help is much appreciated,
Thanks for reading,
Regards from Antwerp, Belgium.

I was in a local collectors' market today, browsing through the watches put in his market cabinet by a guy who has sold me watches in the past. Then, my eye went to his patch of space on top of the cabinet, and I saw an interesting item, contained in a solid mahogany box. On further examination, it transpired that this was a pigeon-racing clock, and as it was priced at £15 before my 10% discount, I bought it. OK, I am not sure if it works, and I haven't a clue how to use it, but I reckon the...

I’m wondering if someone here can identify this clock. Recently bought it and my grandmother (who is not a clock expert, and neither am I) reckons it may not be original, or maybe some kind of replica because of the shiny plasticky coating. I originally thought it was just varnished but it does sound like plastic when tapped. Theres no info anywhere that I can see and no dating or anything on it ..read more

Hi
I recently came into the possession of three pocket watches and watches.
this pocket watch is very small and doesn’t have any serial numbers on the movement. I’ve been trying to find some information but can’t seem to find anything if I’m honest.
I would be very grateful if anybody could shed some light on the history of the pocket watch If possible.
thank you in advance for your time.
regards
