The latest guest on The Base Path Podcast is a BC senior who has been one of the team’s top starting pitchers over the last two seasons. Shrewsbury, Mass., native John West returned to BC for his final season this spring, and he has arguably been the Eagles' most consistent pitcher in 2024. No matter how the rest of 2024 unfolds, it will be a memorable season for coach John Delaney and his Quinnipiac program. The Bobcats are chasing a MAAC championship after producing 30 wins for just the second time ever last spring, but now do so on a sparkling new turf field that opened in early March. One of New England's winningest college coaches of all time, University of Southern Maine skipper Ed Flaherty, has announced that he will retire at the end of the 2024 season. Flaherty will conclude his career after 39 seasons and more than 1,100 wins. Flaherty led the Huskies to two D3 national championships, earning the first of his legendary career in 1991. That team was the first collegiate team from the state of Maine to win a national championship.
