Just a few weeks remain in the Division 3 baseball regular season around New England. The winningest teams in New England still remain among the nation’s upper echelon, and thus, the latest edition of New England Baseball Journal’s Division 3 Coaches Poll. However, this past week’s results have changed the form of the bottom half of the top-10, which still includes representation from five different conferences. The latest guest on The Base Path Podcast is a BC senior who has been one of the team’s top starting pitchers over the last two seasons. Shrewsbury, Mass., native John West returned to BC for his final season this spring, and he has arguably been the Eagles' most consistent pitcher in 2024. The 6-foot-8, 265-pound right-hander has made nine starts in 2024, posting a 1-1 record and 4.70 ERA with 41 strikeouts in 51.2 innings. Breaking news: USM legendary coach Ed Flaherty plans to retire

One of New England's winningest college coaches of all time, University of Southern Maine skipper Ed Flaherty, has announced that he will retire at the end of the 2024 season. Flaherty will conclude his career after 39 seasons and more than 1,100 wins. Flaherty led the Huskies to two D3 national championships, earning the first of his legendary career in 1991. That team was the first collegiate team from the state of Maine to win a national championship.
