Canonet QL17 flash question

Doesn't seem like a place to post Canonet questions but here we go. With much trepidation, bought a very clean copy of the Canonet QL17. After some tense moments, the meter and other vital signs came to life. One oddity of this came is that it has a hotshoe but no pins. Am I missing something? I see a GIII designation online as well. Did it come in different models and I may have an earlier one? Surprisingly, Canonet 28 has a hotshot with pins.  ..read more

Best bet for charging my OM-D battery

The wife and I plan some extended photography heavy adventures in the coming year. These adventures will be hundreds of miles from an outlet to plug a charger in. Is my best bet for charging camera batteries just to bite the bullet and use a std wall charger and an inverter? Both the rig and the trailer will have large storage batteries. Being away from shore power of any kind for almost a month at a time I would prefer not to have to pack a dozen batteries.     ..read more

E6 slide film availability?

Just thought I'd trawl some ideas from colleagues... E6 35mm has become very difficult to get. I have used mainly C41 in the last few years to preserve the stock of Fujichrome I have in the fridge but could do with buying some more.  Any thoughts about current availability? I know Fuji stopped making E6 'temporarily' during the pandemic and stopped selling Velvia in the US in 2021 due to new environmental regulations about a certain chemical compound present and stopped making 4x5" etc. My usual online stores in Europe seem to have nil stock of Fujichrome (of any type) and the last roll I ..read more

A friend of mine just inherited her grandad’s camera. It’s a Minolta 7000 Maxxum 35mm. Looks to me like a later SLR film camera?  she got I think 2 lenses with it,    Anyway this looks like it has a bunch of electronics. Im wondering if anyone is familiar with this model? If so can you please explain any nuances or offer tips & suggestions about using it?    Shes not a noob to photography but is new to manual film cameras. Asked her send pic of the lenses as well, haven’t gotten them yet. The lens shown seems to be a Sigma zoom of some sort tho.    Thanks ..read more

Hello.  I would in the kitchen cabinetry manufacturing industry.  I am looking for guidance on a Quality Control Digital camera with wifi.  The goal is to have cabinets photographed at eh end of the production line, prior to packaging, to verify color and consistency.   Ideally, the unit would have built in wifi to sync back to server with job information for storage.  We are an industry space so either some "hardened" equipment or low purchase cost to make replacements less painful.  The dust factor would be the primary concern and of course drops onto high ..read more

Hi everyone, By means of introduction, my photography journey has been as follows: 1990-2000 - Canon AE-1, A1, 35mm film SLRs, which I adored 2005-2015 - Nikon Professional full frame DSLRs with the amazing ‘holy trinity’ of lenses (14-24mm f/2.8, 24-70mm f/2.8, 70-200mm f/2.8) which felt so technically perfect that you wondered whether you were controlling the camera or the camera was controlling you 2015-2023 - Leica M3, Leica MP film rangefinders, beautiful in their own way, but never enjoyed them as much as SLRs All have been eventually sold. Next I’m looking for ..read more
