FlicFilm Aurora800 test roll

I recently saw some adds/reviews for FlicFilm Aurora800 that piqued my curiosity, so I ordered 2 rolls; one to shoot in an AF camera and one to shoot in a manual SLR. I'd never shot anything higher than ISO 400 before, for some reason, and I was curious. This roll was shot in my Minolta Alpha-9. The other roll is in my Pentax LX and is almost finished. The blog I'd watched had compared it to Porta800 and Cinestill 800T, which in their shots came out favorably in comparision. That, and the... Read more ..read more

Possibility of 126 being made again?
The Photo Forum » Film Discussion and Q & A

Hi, This is my first post on this forum. What are the chances of 126 being manufactured again? I normally use Canon gear from the mid seventies and Mamiya stuff from the sixties with the old screw mount lenses. However, I also enjoy using 110 with new film from Limography, and now that I have found my old Minolta 126 instamatic I would like to use it again. I had that camera from when I was about 10. What do you all think are the odds that someone will start making 126 carts again... Read more ..read more

Instax Wide 300 Lens cover broken, not shutting properly
The Photo Forum » Film Discussion and Q & A

A few months ago I purchased an Instax Wide 300 off eBay, it has been a great camera and I've had lots of fun using it. A few weeks ago the lens cover stopped closing properly, the top half is permanently retracted and when the camera is on the bottom half doesn't fully retract. While this does create an interesting effect on any photos in direct sunlight I would like to fix it if at all possible. I have been unable to find any information online about how to fix it and wondered if anyone on... Read more ..read more

Best Lens for shooting canvas on an easel while I paint?
The Photo Forum » Film Discussion and Q & A

I video the canvas while I am painting and mostly post them as time lapse though sometimes tutorials. The problem I've had is finding a lens that has a minimum of perspective distortion. In editing I can correct for the distortion some but there is still noticeable distortion that distracts from the video. I am considering the Lumix 9mm f/1.7 lens but I am so ignorant about lenses I'm not sure if it will be a significant improvement or not. Thanks for any helpful replies ..read more

My brother passed away and while going through some of his belongings I found this: All appears to be working too. There is film in it and I'll finish off that roll and buy another fresh one to see what I can do with it and to ensure it all works. I'm not a photographer but I'd love to dabble with this thing. It is by far the biggest camera I've ever had. The only other thing it had were some lens hoods. I'm still hoping to find other accessories at his place... Read more ..read more

Feeding my Minox with film ended up best by custom slitting 35mm film such as this fine grain B&W at 50 ISO to maximize the small negative. I had considered Super 8 movie film, but after seeing the limited availability for B&W I chose the DIY slitting path ..read more

Cheaper to develop your own?

Looking at dipping my toe into medium format film again. Years ago I developed all my B&W, but now I'm not so sure it's cost effective. Chemicals like everything else have gone up to the point that it looks like the cost to develop my own (all things considered) isn't much different than a lab. The only advantage is the time savings and push/pull developing but for a price lab's will do that as well. How about it, is it really an advantage anymore ..read more

$8,000 Hasselblad vers $1000 Fugi.

Was interesting and something I've though about with even less expensive camera's. Guy shot 7 different photo's with the two camera's. The Hasselblad had 100 pix's and the Fugi 26! He put both photo's of each side by side and had people tell him which came from which camera. Both photo's were just the same! Of the 7 set's the Hasselblad was only picked two time, Fugi wiped it out. I have wondered a lot about the real advantage as far as photo's go if spending the money was really worth...
