Hello to all, I need, please, your help! I proudly own a mint Leica M4-Mot since several years and 2 years ago I found the relevant mate namely the Leitz New York motor. Actually, it was "used" conditions and the paint was quite damaged. Dealing with electric functions it seemed that worked approximately well. I am perfectionist so I desired to restore it so I forwarded the whole motor-drive to Leica specialist (?) in UK... Read more ..read more

The Heavenly Leica M5…

The heavenly M5 is such a Heavenly camera. A true Street photography monster workhorse. It only lacks a winder/motor capability, but for the rest, it’s a champ. People are uneducated regarding the M5, prefering to parrot what they read instead of simply trying it. And yes, it is best used with small, tiny lenses. A 35 summicron V4 or V1 on that camera is perfection. My hands are all over that sexy combo. That bottom left corner is totally made for left hand holding, and a tabbed lens... Read more ..read more

When I first started shooting I was drawn to the wide lenses, 20mm, 24mm and currently 35mm. Now I am hearing the call of the 50 and am very interested in getting a Leica 50mm pre-asph. I've done the forum search (we really need to improve that) but haven't found as many pictures as I would like. So if you have this lens, please post some images, I would really like to see more examples of how this lens performs. Thanks ..read more

Voigtlander Prominent to Leica-M adapter?

Hi All, I absolutely love my 1950's Color Skopar lens on a Vitomatic. (I promise to post some pics in the gallery soon!!) But I'm looking at how to get those great 50's Voigtlander lenses onto a more modern camera body. (I don't want to use the unwieldy Prominent). You can get these great lenses for much less than $100 each... mmmmm The bodies I'm most keen on are: Hexar RF and Cosina Voigtlander Bessa. (I guess that for future lens options, I'd prefer a Leica M-mount lens body rather... Read more ..read more

My first impression of what a Summarit 50mm 1.5 lens can do with Christmas lights is completely different than I expected! My anticipation was of donuts, orbs, or something different....but 3D hearts???? After taking a few snaps with no idea about the lens, Wow! I can hardly wait to explore the possibilities... http://www.rangefinderforum.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=98520&nocache=1 A few more are posted in my gallery... Read more ..read more

Hello to all, i hope anyone could help me... I had to change something on my Leica M5, had to rebuild some things and just wanted to ask if someone could upload photos of the viewfinder so that I can set the "default needle" for the light meter correctly. I had made markings, but I don't think they are quite right. I need du adjust this needle: I think I could manage the calibration with these 4 values Shutter 1000 - with 400 ISO Shutter 500 - with 75 ISO Shutter 15 - with... Read more ..read more

M2 eyepiece mask removal?
Rangefinder Forum » Leica M Film Cameras

recently got my first Leica, an M2. it's amazing, but as a glasses wearer i need more eye relief to comfortably see the 35mm frame lines. it has the older rectangular eyepiece mask/aperture piece. i'm aware that an M4 style eyepiece can be installed, but then I thought, after watching an m2 top plate removal video and seeing the part in question exposed, could the mask be omitted entirely for more eye relief with no ill effect? wondering if anyone has experience with this mod, the couple...
