G'day everyone, I have a somewhat obscure question regarding the 18ft Ore containers used on the White Pass... I am building the Railmaster (Sn3) kits and would like to number the ore container, but am at a loss for the numbers used. I have the number series for the shorter 12ft ore containers and also road numbers for the 300 and 400 series flats, it's just the longer ore containers I have hit a block with. Fingers crossed there might be someone on the forum who can help. Much obliged, thankyou all ..read more

August "Chili Line" Charter (2 replies)

I signed up for the Friends' August 3 "Chili Line" mixed train charter from Antonito to Osier and return. I am curious how sales are going, and what details might have emerged about consist and photo stops. I have a hard time believing it has not been done before, but I can't remember a similar photo charter specifically focused on recreating a Chili line mixed. Maybe somebody here has a better memory. Certainly the countryside between Antonito and Lava, maybe even to Big Horn, has plenty of locations evocative of the Chili Line. And the new historic passenger fleet provides some reasonably ap ..read more

In my systematic flow through our SVRR Archive files, the next shot up has none other than me posing in our old M32 motor car. I had brought a friend to the railroad that day, but IIRC I was on the fire patrol crew, so he spent his day doing a cab ride and taking B&W photos around the railroad. He told me to pose and look like I was doing something, so I picked up this track bolt off of the floor and pointed at it. This was probably between 20 and 25 years ago. Note behind the motor car is our old small fire car with pump and water tank. M32 was a Fairmont MT19 which had come to us from th ..read more
