Hi guys, So I am due to send my reapplication form to DVLA in July with ban ending early October. I am a HRO due to my reading and so I know I will need to book a medical before getting my licence back. I am not concerned about this as I have not drunk since the incident and have subsequently got pregnant with my baby due imminently. I am prepared for delays being the DVLA but will they always need to consult my GP as part of the process? I have no previous incidents or issues with... Read more ..read more

Hi all, I wanted to offer some reassurance to anyone going through the DVLA medical process. I’m a high risk offender so have to take a DVLA medical each time I renew my license. I booked my medical and attended that medical 4 weeks after booking. I remained abstaining from alcohol for 21 days and received the results within 2 weeks. The letter stated we have your results and are now writing to your GP for further information. I checked the Driver license website to monitor the progress of... Read more ..read more

I have had my medical, DVLA have received my bloods and the questionnaire, They have now requested an M1 (i suffer from anxiety and depression) to be filled out, which I have done and sent back to them. I have 2 questions - 1) Are they happy with my blood results if they have now requested the M1 ? 2) Do they ALWAYS go on to want to contact the GP after an M1 has been submitted ? Thank you for any help with these queries - I have a job offer depending on the outcome ..read more

Had my medical and blood test 2 weeks ago on Friday, I had abstained from alcohol for 7 months after I got my ban (Dr 60, Hro) . I received a letter from dvla today saying I have to rebook by blood test within 7 days as there has been some kind of clerical error. I have been drinking vodka, a bottle last Saturday and a bottle yesterday as I thought I was in the clear after the medical. Really panicking now, any info appreciated, thanks ..read more

Hi everyone! Many years ago I was banned from driving (ban has now ended and I have been approved as medically fit to drive) and recently have been trying to book my theory test but I am "ineligible". My GP sent the form off over 6 weeks ago to say I am fit to drive, but every day I am checking and it still says I am ineligible. I've emailed asking for updates and try to phone the DVLA and medical team but can never get through to find out an update. Has this happened to anyone else? Do... Read more ..read more

I had my license revoked for a non alcohol related medical condition but I now have to take a CDT test probably because I stated drinking 16 units a week a year or two ago and was classed under alcohol misuse Would I be better saying I am completely abstinent during my medical because I'm hearing they're strict on alcohol consumption these days I've stopped drinking and have my test in 5 weeks so I should pass my cdt I'd just rather not lie during my medical if I don't have to ..read more

DVLA asking for explaination after urine screen

Has anyone ever went for the drug screen and then been asked to explain trace amounts of a substance? That's exactly where I am at today. The letter asked for a reason why the metabolite norbuprenorphine was found in my urine at just over the cut off level. My medical was in early March. I am a health care professional and we work exclusively with two drugs.. methadone and buprenorphine (of which norbuprenorphine is a metabolite). I have already replied and explained my role at work in... Read more ..read more
