Hi,
I'm looking at buying a Movano van to convert into a camper. It's a 3.5 ton van. Does this mean it already weighs 3.5 tonnes unladen, or does this include its maximum payload weight? I'm restricted to 3.5 ton and under with my type 2 diabetes with insulin, so if the van is 3.5 ton BEFORE it's loaded, then I won't be able to drive it. Anyone know? Thaks ..read more

I was initially diagnosed as a type 1 diabetic and given insulin as treatment and was advised by GP that I had to send my licence of to the DVLA and they reduced it to 3 years, 18 months later after seeing my Diabetic specialist, the tests that they had from me suggested that I am not a type 1 after all and more likely a type 2, he has not put me on tablets (Metformin) & I am no longer on Insulin at all now. How do I go about getting my licence put right now ..read more

My forms have just arrived.
The consultant I was under retired during covid, he rang me and told me I would be seen by his replacement.
I’ve never been seen….. I have never seen my GP for my diabetes, ever as I am supposed to be under the care of the hospital.
I have had phone consultations with a DSN, Last one was a year ago. My surgery carry out my yearly bloods, which then the DSN can discuss with me, but have nothing else to do with my diabetes.
My forms have come through to renew...

Hi
My wife has been Type 1 on insulin for almost 40 years. Well controlled.
Has always been seen by a diabetic consultant at local hospital. So when answering question on driving licence renewal form every 3 years it is easy to answer "When did you last see a consultant?"
Consultant has now written to say he may take her off his list and transfer care to her GP.
Will this in any way cause any problems when answering above question as the answer would be "5 years" in 3 years time.
Thanks in...

I have been a insulin treated t3 diabetic for five years.
The doctor has refused to fill my repete prescription, apparently I can have a pack of five pens humulin I per 93 days. So I have until April 26th now without insulin.
As I am no longer treated with insulin do I need to contact the DVLA to get my licence amended back, I need to drive daily, but testing is irrelevant as I am no longer using insulin ..read more

Hey, I'm a student with Type 1 Diabetes, and I'm finding it a bit unwieldy to carry my passport everywhere for ID - most of my friends have provisional licenses, but I've heard they're not easy to get with diabetes from some people. It is quite a lot of money to apply, and I don't want to waste it if it's unlikely I'll actually get approved. Has anyone else here had any experience with this ..read more

Afternoon all, I notified DVLA online a couple of weeks ago, as advised by my diabetes team. I’ve had a letter off DVLA today asking for me to send my license to them and that C1 entitlement will be taken off ? I have a new motorhome which is over the 3500kg so therefore requires C1 entitlement. The letter says to send my current license back to them within 14 days. I’ve looked at the D2/D4 forms to apply for my C1 entitlement and there are a few things I’m unsure about ?
They say send the...

Hi. Just filling in my licence renewal on line and confused about q6 (i can't remember what i ticked last time).
Q6 asks about 2 or more episodes of low blood glucose in the last 12 months where you have needed help. (Do not count episodes where you were given help but could have helped yourself)
I've had hypos but never needed help. If i tick yes then will it count as needing help but if i tick no then they may think i have no hypo awareness.
Which ..read more
