Swatch Nines has been a staple in the freestyle snowboarding and skiing world for over 15 years, with epic oversized features and a different take on what an event can look like. The 16th Swatch Nines wrapped up last week at the Swiss resort of Schilthorn, and as usual there were mega sized features that made me reminisce about Superpark events from back in the day. The week did throw a curve ball with a bad weather day, but that just made everyone more eager to go big on the days that allowed. Multiple world records got broken on the “Perfect Hip”, most notably by Brook D’Hondt and Valentino ..read more

The Swatch Nines this week witnessed one for the history books with multiple World Records including Valentino Guseli, as he hit new heights for mens snowboarding.
Valentino joined in the session on “The Perfect Hip” and managed to soar at an unbelievable 11.5 meters (37.7 feet), topping Christian Haller’s record of 11.3 meters (37.1 feet), also from 2016.
“I was just going as big as I could,” said Guseli. “I’d say it’s the biggest hip I ever hit. And the thing that’s gnarly about it is, when you first hit it, you already have to go big.”
