Hello everyone, I’m new to this forum & here to share my 4 year old yorkie’s battle.
It all started last Thursday (5-21) night. I was celebrating my bday& decided to pick up some boiling crab (Cajun seasoned seafood).Everything was ok till I turned around for a minute and realized my Yorkie got a hold of French fries and seasoned sausage. He threw up that night and was fine throughout the night .
Friday comes, he throws up twice at night but nothing too alarming, stools were normal and so...

I just rescued an approx. two-year-old deaf blue-heeler mix. This is my third deaf rescue in twenty years. I had him professionally transported from Florida to my home in Colorado. The foster mom wasn't quite honest with me about his situation. She told me he had some "fly-biting issues" but kind of downplayed the severity. Basically, if he's awake he is jumping around, fly-biting and barking. It won't stop until I distract him and redirect.
He was delivered to me yesterday at 8:00...

We live on an island in arctic Norway. We have an unspayed 9-year.old papillon, Lucy. Every winter, she lactates, despite not being pregnant, which is then diagnosed as a false pregnancy. Suckling herself leads to further lactation, but we don't know whether the suckling or the lactation comes first. Cabergoline has stopped the lactation, but has not always been necessary. Most recently, a lightweight sort of bodice that blocked her access to her teats stopped the lactation when it returned...

Hi all. I posted this a couple of weeks ago. (Tl;dr My elderly dog who already has a bunch of health issues but was doing okay overall got injured a few weeks ago and couldn't walk for a while. Now she's walking with a limp. I've been thinking about euthanasia, but I also feel like I'm doing it for selfish reasons.)
I just wanted to post an update and see if anyone had anymore...

On Sunday morning, literally out of nowhere, I discovered a large softball sized mass on the side of my dogs neck very visible and hard to the touch. He absolutely did not have it before Sunday. His energy is also very low and he isn't eating much, but is going to the bathroom. He's mainly just been sleeping a lot.
I rushed him to the vet and they ran bloodwork and took a sample of the mass. The vet said the mass "looks fatty" and she took 4 samples of it, and she thinks it may be fatty. We...

I had a tiny bowl of solid coconut oil on the table that I occasionally put on the dogs' toes. We just got home, and found it on the floor half-empty, and our 9lb tiny Chihuahua's muzzle smells like a coconut.
About a tablespoon has been eaten, and our 12lb might have had a bit of it too. Any suggestions? I know the main concern is pancreatitis, and while they don't eat a lot of fatty things (just what's in their food), last night I made a special dinner that included some chicken livers...

Hi Guys -
I had a good talk with yet another new vet about using essential oils to help with Chewy's allergies. She told me she had a patient that responded really well to Lavender & Lemon essential oils, so I'm going to try using it on some hot spots.
I want to make sure this is safe to use on skin. I was getting ready to pay for some oils online when I saw the fine print: Do not apply undiluted to skin. Avoid topical use. This was labeled as "100% All Natural Lavender Oil"
Now I'm...

Well, I guess I just wanted to write this out somewhere to get it off of my chest.
In what I will call an "episode," I ended up picking up a puppy from a shelter on Wednesday. This was probably very far from the best decision. I'm lucky my other dog seems to carry a lot of resilience in some ways. Things were going well, but we immediately noticed symptoms of Kennel Cough. We enforced rest and water as best as we could, but before we knew it, she was rapidly declining. I made an...
