Good morning everyone. It has been a minute since I have been on here and I am looking for some help. My girl Kai has been having issues with her back right leg on and off for multiple months now. For context, it began when she tried to jump into the car. Something happened in that instant and she ended up standing outside of the car crying with her leg held up for approximately a minute or so. When she was done and I had felt about the leg, she placed it back on the ground and behaved as if... Orthopedic Specialist (East Bay- Antioch, Brentwood, Concord, etc ..read more

My 10 month old got sick and the vet took X-rays to make sure she didnt have anything lodged in her intestines. Nothing there so she is pretty sure it's gastroenteritis. Just wondering if any one here had this problem with their dog and how long did it take for her to be feeing better. My dog will drink but will not eat yet ..read more

Just thought I would share the good news. We did the bloodwork 2 days ago, the vet advised she would call me on Thurs. (today), I advised I would be at work and if she could just email me the results. She was so excited she called me at 7:50am to tell me the good news before work! The Moxy-Doxy treatment worked. If interested to know... She came up (STILL) HW + and microfilaria + in early Oct. 2022 (despite a prior poorly executed moxy-doxy protocol and then covid happened). So we did 30... Dog moaning only when lying down and changing positions

Just last week, my male GSD started to do a low moan when lying down when I bring him into the living room to watch tv with me. He is not asleep when he moans. It's a really low groan/moan. Most times, he is not looking at me. He also does this when he changes positions. Along with this, he will whimper through his nose (almost sounds like a whistle). He is in training and this is while I have him in a 30min. downstay and he is not allowed to get up until I give him a command. Either... Our soon to be 11 year old GSD has always had a bit of dry skin on her back, where her longer hair is located - along the backbone. However, this Spring I've noticed a LOT of dry, flaky skin on her head. I'm curious if this has something to do with the fact that she's about to blow her coat all over my house! She is on a salmon protein food (Pinnacle) and nothing else. She's been on this for a couple of years now. Any suggestions for what do about this dandruff? It's pretty thick and a... So we had a vet appointment last night for Blake (20 weeks old), and he has informed us he definitely has a heart murmur, he believes it is PDA (Patent ductus arteriosis), and would like us to have a echo-cardiogram. He also said that if this isn't treated he probably wont live past the age of 2! Has anyone else's dog had this, and have you had the surgery? How did it go? I think we will be booking him in for the scan next week, but was just looking for some advice/ information etc ..read more

My 4 year old female shepherd has recently been diagnosed with possible perianal fistula. She has no bleeding, rectal pain or wincing. I am finding it difficult to find much info on this. Basically she has a few black welts around her anus that she has been licking quite a lot due to stress because of torn acl. The black spots are red and raised. I am so at a loss. I am also finding not many vets are knowledgeable with this condition. I am in rural BC, Canada ..read more
