Temporary pain relief

My dachshund mix has hurt her back in the past (not quite a ruptured disc, but getting closer to that). Once in a while, it seems like she will be a little sore for a day but then she is better. Yesterday her back seemed to start hurting her and this morning her back legs seem a little weaker and she’s definitely in pain (she is so stoic though). She doesn’t really want to get up or move around. I have a vet appointment booked for Thursday. I have a little gabapentin left over from when she... Temporary pain relief ..read more

Warning: This e-mail is long but please read everything. We really need help. Our two-year-old, female, neutered Weimaraner has been urinating blood since the middle May of 2008 and we don’t know what to do. We have had multiple tests done on her and no one can give us any concrete answers as to what is happening. We just want her to be healthy again and now we’re desperate, so we’ve turned to internet forums for answers. After bringing her to our vet, he’s tried multiple approaches at... Hello. We bought this Dachshund a week ago from a breeder. At the time we bought he, she was covered in a fair few fleas and had a small lump on her nose, we thought it may have been a flea bight and didn't take much notice. A few days later it got bigger so I took her to the vet. She did some tests but didn't know what it was, and one of the tests will take 9 days. Anyway, here are some photos. Some before it was big, and some after. Has anyone seen this before, or might someone know what... Dachshund puppy problem ..read more

Hey guys, my first post but been reading this forum for a while and you all seem to have some good information. My papillon just recently got a strange rash on her back kinda close to her rear leg. I took her to the vet and she said its not mange but put her on antibiotics and prednisone it worked for a while but when the medicine ran out my dog's rash has reoccurred and now my toy poodle has one similar. I'm thinking food allergy now? But it is winter here and the papillon normally has dry... Dogs have strange rash, not mange though ..read more

Spina Bifida Advice

My Pitbull was diagnosed with Spina Bifida today. I've had her for a year since she was ten weeks old, however she was a foster. They told me she had ataxia and her incontinence was most likely neurological. So I've been caring for her special needs for a year until I adopted and decided I wanted to do it forever. I got her into the vet where they told me she actually had Spina Bifida and she is more ataxic at times because of it and that is the cause of her incontinence. I know I can't fix... Took our 7 year old Australian Shepard in for a reverse sneezing/snorting she’s started doing. it feels like she might have something stuck in her nasal passage that is irritating it. Dr wants to do a rhinoscopy but at a cost of $3,000 without any firm indication if it’ll even find anything. It’s just a guess… any suggestions here? Anything else we can try or is this basically the only option and hope they find a piece of tree debris etc ..read more

Hi Everyone, This is ironic because I've been Type 1 since the late 70s. I have a Chihuahua mix named Moonshine. He was diagnosed in April. Having had the disease I am able to tell by his demeanor and physical symptoms most times but something new is happening that I'm not sure how to determine whether he's high or low. I tried all of my testing supplies and even bought 2 boxes each of 500 lancets in longer lengths hoping to be able to check him but none are long enough to draw a sample... I went to few vets and most of them gave me a different diagnose with no solution, my dog has this skin problems that you can see in the attached pictures. I have another dog that they live together that keeps scratching all day long as well but does not have the same skin damage. Both dogs don't have any appetite... my dog is scratching non stop, skin problems please help ..read more
