Kenwood KD-48F automatic operation issue

Hi all,   A couple years back, I got a Kenwood KD-48F turntable from Facebook Marketplace, and it's served me well for a while (only needed a new cartridge). However, recently I had an issue with the automatic operation of the turntable, so I cracked it open to figure out what was up. I did move recently, so I think something could have been jostled around in there and got out of wack. After a lot of fiddling (and supergluing a part back in place), I have it in a somewhat decent state, but things still aren't working perfectly.   Thankfully, when the turntable reaches the end of a re ..read more

Audio-Technica AT-1005 II Tone Arm - Broken Connection

Hi - I came into possession of a turntable and it has an Audio-Technica AT-1005 II Tone arm, which seems to have its connection broken. I have very limited knowledge of any of the equipment but am keen to get the turntable working again. Does anyone know if this is something I should be able to fix at home or does it need more expertise then this, if so can anyone recommend anywhere in London that could fix this at a reasonable cost? Thanks   Images are here: https://postimg.cc/gallery/jCHwpzd ..read more

Need help with new setup

I'm having an issue i cant seem to fix or find a solution to no matter what i read or watch. Basically when i try to listen to a record all i hear is a horrible distortion type sound. If you listen closely you can barely make out the music behind the distortion but most of the sound is just chaotic distortion.  My original setup required me to add a phono pre-amp because the audio that was being produced was extremely low volume. I added a Fosi X2 pre-amp and this is where im currently at.  I have the turntable cables connected to the Audio Technica AT-LP120-USB turntable connected t ..read more

Help me trouble shoot

Appreciate any thoughts you all have.   So I have two set ups: one in my office (vintage Sony table, harman/kardon receiver + random table speakers), and a primary table downstairs (1st generation uTurn with an external pre-amp). I've been listening to vinyl for quite a while and am fairly adept at setting up and maintaining my gear.   But for the life of me I can't figure out the upstairs set up. One of the speakers jumps in and out every time I play a record. To try and chase down the source of the issue: - I've switched out the speaker wire with new top of the line stuff. -I've sw ..read more

Hello, how r u all . I have been looking for help & found this forum. I've acquired a JVC L-A31 turntable but the headshell & cartridge are canted and I'm having trouble trying to make it level!!! I undone the two screws underneath the collar which is behing the headshell and it did turn, but when i tightened the screws again it wanted to turn back again! Which lead me to believe there may be a v out or something alike where the screws contacts the tone arm, so it goes back to same position? My next question is, once them two screws are out, should that collar slide off? I didn't want ..read more

Is my antiskate broken?

Can someone help me understand if I am doing something wrong with the anti-skate? From all the videos and tutorials I have seen online, I assumed that once I set the anti-skate, the needle would sit "dead" on a flat surface like a laserdisc. However, when I set the anti-skate, there is no real "dead zone" but instead one single "dead spot" that the needle drifts towards, either from the inside or the outside of the record. Adjusting the anti-skate just changes where that one dead band is on the record, but the needle still seems to pull rather dramatically toward that point. If I set it so tha ..read more

Hi! I got my Project Debut Carbon Evo 3 months ago and I started play heavier records slow, very noticeable, like in slow motion. It plays 150gr or lighter records just fine. I've replaced the belt with a new one, and cleaned the pulley and the spinel, with no luck!  ..read more

Need Advice on Setup Upgrade - Help me determine lowest hanging fruit

Hi all, new to the forum.   To much of your potential dismay, I went with an AT LP-60 for my first player. It's what I could afford at the time, given my impatience. It's been running fine for years, but I'd like to invest in some higher quality equipment.    My main concern is that upgrading the turntable might not actually be the lowest hanging fruit on my tree, relative to the whole setup.    First, some quick questions that have materialized since I bought that first table: 1. How much does the audio cable quality/length/type affect the sound, if at all? 2. How nec ..read more

Hey guys, I am trying to help a friend out and clean up his turntable for him. First thing I did was go to adjust the counterweight and noticed its bent downwards. Did not think much of it until after I set the proper tracking force and went to set the needle down onto a record, it would keep moving around and to the right. I looked up a couple videos on this table and did not see any that had a counterweight bent down. Found the same table on eBay but what do you know, that counterweight is also listed as damaged and bent down also. Im assuming this isn't something that can be fixed and it j ..read more
