Hi, I have a 2020 M1 MBP running Sonoma 14.4.1; an iPad mini 6 running 17.4.1; and an iPhone SE running 17.4.1.
I can’t shut down my laptop because “an operation is still in progress on an iOS device”. As it appears, both of my devices have been stuck in a perpetual sync for a couple of days now. What I mean is that, in both Finder and the Music app, there is a constant spinning wheel next to a device’s name.
In Finder, when I click on the device, the screen shows nothing (see 1st Pic)...

I need the help and advice of the Forum please.
I'm a pooter illiterate retired Boomer who worked the Oilfields for 44 year before retiring in 2021. So barely able to use Excel/Word and I never could do anything beyond that. I are a high tech Redneck... ha !
In retirement, I use Excel and Word from the MS Office for Mac to do simple Budgeting and nothing heavy or demanding.
Lots of Music and Movies from the iTunes and Apple TV.
Other than that it's just email, surfing and...

I just purchased a 16" MacBook Pro M3 Max and was wondering if anyone uses Screen Protectors on their LT. If so, what do you recommend.
I also had a I-Blason Slim rubberized cover with TPU bumper but it seems they don't make it for the new MacBooks. Any recommendations to any similar item.
Thank you for your feedback ..read more

has anyone found a filter sleeve of some kind to slip over the screen on a MacBook to filter out the harsh diode based rays...I can't even look at my MacBook for more than a few minutes without feeling eye pain...or alternatively a separate screen monitor to replace the screen that uses incandescent light even if its black and white....?I have never heard of one but eventually someone will develop one because there is a massive market for it at the right price ..read more

Hi,
how can I reduce the white point on a MacBook Pro 2023?
I have this option on 2 iPhones, and as far as I know it's present also on the iPad 9th and 10th gen, but not on the iPad Air.
I think that Apple assumes that the new OLED displays are better at making the black a true black because the LEDs turn off, but is it really the case?
Or shall I assume that Apple doesn't produce screens and drivers for reading but only for the max quality?
Well, whatever, I need this functionality...

hi guys I have the above mentioned MacBook Pro.
it did have a slight spill but I have taken it fully apart and the logic board is clean no water sensors tripped or anything in fact it got wet and I turned it over straight away.
no upon powering up the MacBook it boots to internet recovery straight away none of the keys respond except for the card lock key it lights up still as if its working as is the enter key and arrow keys.
I've tried to connect it to the internet but it gets nowhere...

I have a 2020 M1 MBP laptop, and a Canon ImageClass MF451dw printer/scanner/copier.
I upgraded to Sonoma a couple of days ago.
Today, I went to scan a document, and received the error shown in the attached pic. I've restarted both the laptop and the printer, but it doesn't resolve the issue. Any idea how to fix it? Thanks ..read more

I was given the above MBP from a friend, who got a new 16” M2 MBP in August.
This has 16 gb ram, 512 HDD. Battery reports as “Service Needed” with 991 cycles. CoconutBattery confirms, showing 66%, saying service needed. DriveDx shows hard drive as failing (S.M.A.R.T.) with 17 bad sectors.
(I upgraded my MBP 2010 13” to 16 gb ram and 500 SSD from HDD, so I’m relatively confident I can do the upgrades to the 2012.)
Checking OWC the needed battery isn't available for 43 days. Ifixit shows...
