  In partnership with the Keweenaw County Sheriff and The Nature Conservancy of Michigan, the Keweenaw Community Foundation continues to support the planning efforts for the future Keweenaw County Emergency Operations Center (KCEOC). The County received a $50,000 planning grant in early 2024 through the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity’s Office of Rural Prosperity. In late 2023 staff at the Keweenaw Community Foundation surveyed our community partners for feedback on our granting process. We heard lots of positive feedback, but also identified areas of growth. The survey helped us find opportunities for refining our grant process, and we heard a call for additional support for organizations beyond traditional grantmaking.
