In the land of the great lakes boating adventures are second nature to the region’s residents. Michigan DNR encourages boaters to renew their watercraft licenses before the start of the season, as well as shares tips about preparing for a summer of fun. Tomorrow the Copper Country Associated Artists will bring many of those artists together for a grand re-opening of the CCAA gallery. MDOT crews will return to work on the Portage Lake lift bridge on Monday. The Michigan of Department of Transportation will conduct work on the Portage Lake Lift Bridge over two days next week to perform deck maintenance. Work will begin between 6:30 am and 2:30 pm on Monday and Tuesday. Travelers should expect traffic delays while crews complete work. Copper Harbor Trails Club invites mountain bikers to return to the trails now that the system has partially opened. Copper Harbor Trails Club says that the main trail network near the town has opened to the public. However, some trails further out, such as East Bluff, are not ready for activity yet. A ship that went missing near Whitefish Point has been discovered at the bottom of Lake Superior. The Great Lakes Shipwreck Historical Society announced yesterday the discovery of the Adella Shores steamship that had gone missing on May 1st, 1909. Went Missing describes vessels that left the dock and were never seen again, without survivors, or witnesses and are yet to be located.
