It's always feels good when you are asked your opinion on something, right? Well, it definitely feels good when you're asked for your opinion or advice and it's printed in a respected magazine! I was honored, in 2019, with a featured article in Plein Air Magazine by Bob Bahr and now its a pleasure to be in the magazine again. Once the article is available digitally, I will link it here but for now you can check out your newsstands and Barnes and Noble stores! is the painting of mine that's in the magazine. Feb-March issue 2024. The article included tips about packing smart for plein air painti ..read more

Looking back but Springing forward...

Recently, I was listening to a post on Facebook and what she was saying really struck me. I couldn't find that exact post so I have linked to her youtube channel...but anyway...She was talking about Covid, of course, and how everyone keeps referring to getting back to “normal”. As many say now…”new normal”.  I’m a bit sick of that term myself but what struck me and what she so simply pointed out was how everyone was looking when they said that. Even the words when you say that… I wanna to the way it was …. is well, back-wards! That “normal”no longer exists!  We can’t go back and do w ..read more

Another Open Studio for archives. It takes months of planning and painting and it’s over, just like that. Always a joy to meet people face to face and spend time together.         This year I released a new series for the first time ever. Figure in the Urban Landscape. This is a collision of 20 plus years of figure drawing and 7 years of urban landscape painting. I’ve been working figures into some of my paintings here and there but this winter I made the commitment to do a series. Watch the video to hear more about that ..read more

Since my Open Studio is in late September and that is when the weather also is cooling off...ie I'm tapering off on plein air painting, I find that afterwards is a natural time to take a break, reflect on the past year and consider what’s next in the coming months and even the coming year. The input I get from people who come to Open Studio is key in all this too and is part of what makes this a great time to take stock.       I want to take this opportunity to Thank everyone who came to Open Studio and those who cheered me on from a dist ..read more

My February Art Challenge...

Many moons ago I would challenge myself in January to do 30 paintings in 30 days…My January Paintings Challenge. This was created to get me back into the studio and “working” after the holidays. The past 3 January’s there have been deaths or crisis’ that have kept the January challenge from happening and that’s ok…getting into the studio isn’t an issue like it used to be, but I admit that this year I’m feeling that a little structure or focus could be helpful. Sooo, I’m modifying my challenge. I started on February 1st and promised myself to work every weekday. I always pick two themes to work ..read more

Good News...Bad News. Starting 2022.

Lets start this out with the GOOD news, OK? I always try to do a painting on January 1 as I feel that helps set the course for the year to come and I got one done! Yeah!      Many people commented on missing my January challenge last year of 30 paintings in 30 days so I thought I'd bring it back this year. However, instead of focusing so much on accomplishing a completed painting, the idea is to get into the studio and be creative or tickle those inspiration muscles in some fashion. I'll do a bit of both, I imagine. How about coming along? Make some tim ..read more

Easter is a time for renewal as is Spring. This Easter week Spring has arrived in full force with warm sun and spring blooms a blooming! I know folks have been missing my plein air paintings. Well, the wait is OVER! I went out for my FIRST painting session this week. As usual, it felt a bit awkward but the only way to fix that is to paint ! I went out the following day and I plan on going out tomorrow as well.      This is all in preparation for my 1st plein air event in quite a while; I applied for this event because there are urban scenes.
