WSLP Mid Week Paintout
Chestertown MD MOnday February 26, 2024
It was an absolutely beautiful day for our mid week paintout in Lovely Chestertown. Temperatures got up to high 60's and it was a perfect day for plein air painting. In addition to four WSLP members, there were several guests attending. Mary Pritchard, a candidate for membership, was gracious to open her beautiful home in the heart of historic Chestertown. We gathered for lunch and then had a robust discussion of the work of the day in Mary's spacious studio.

The WSLP paint-out on Sunday, January 28 in Georgetown, Washington, DC, occurred on a soggy, cold and sometime drizzly day. Three artists participated, Pattee Hipschen, Pattee's guest Josie Vosoba, and Andrei Kushnir. Pattee and Josie set up along the C&O Canal on what is known as Thomas Jefferson Street, which is actually a walkway running along the canal, while Andrei sought the warm refuge of the "Say Cheese!" cafe on nearby 29th Street, NW.
Pattee was able to put down two oils, the first on the walkway a half block further west (less finished because of oncoming driz ..read more

November paint out, 2023
At Peirce Mill Park Washington DC
A grey chilly day for the 6 of us who showed up this November 26th. The works reflect the flat low light. A close look at Marietje Chamberlains second painting shows the rain drops that plagued the day. The first painting was started the day before. Ray Burns finished a painting he had started years before, then tried to start another. Our snow bird from Florida, Sarita Moffat thought she had dressed for early winter, but found she had not. Still the blue rubber boots worked well in the mud. Vicki Blum showed up to paint with us ..read more

Sunday morning in Harpers Ferry was bustling before nine o'clock despite the rain. Hikers, sightseers and creatives with camera and brush were out and about. There were many covered porches and other nooks under which to set about painting. The rivers and cliffs were at times shrouded in atmosphere. It was a delight to take in the variety of subject matter.
Ted, Vicki and Amy enjoyed lunch in town at Kelly Farm Kitchen after painting and had fun talking about all t ..read more

After a week of warm sunny days, Monday morning arrived with a very stiff breeze and cold temperatures. Bethanne found a sheltered spot in the sun. Meg tried to paint the backlit dogwoods in her driveway and ended up scraping it. Afterward we warmed up inside w ..read more

Thanks to Tropical Storm Ophelia, our paint out in the quaint historic Village of Waterford was damp and cool. However, there were tranquil covered nooks where our artists could work. The fine rain, the perfect fall temperature, local fauna and birdsong made for a relaxing, almost meditative moment for creativity to blossom.
Hiu Lai Chong and Leanne Fink, guest of Sarita Moffat, set up on the huge back porch of the Old Stone Schoolhouse. Shown here are both WIP.

Rajendra KC, Bruce Handford, Andrei Kushnir and Trisha Adams painted at the Belle Haven Marina paint out. It was sunny and in the high 80s. Throngs of boater, bikers and picnicers were enjoying the day.
Trisha Adams set up next to the boat launch. So many dogs plunged into the water at this spot, she joked it was a "dog launch."
Rajendra KC painted a watercolor of boats next to the Kayak launch.
