Spring in the Sperrins

Inspiration from the Sperrins. These mountains are mostly moorland and blanket bog. It's a sparse roling landscape. Populated by sheep, bog grass (Eriophorum angustifolium) and muddy SUVs, and farmhouses, old and new. Some old farm buildings have long-been abandoned by people but are still used for farm equipment and shelter for sheep. So long as there is a tin roof, the walls will last years and years. I am finding our current very mild weather rather confusing, it doesn’t feel very Christmasy at all although it’s very dark here – it doesn’t start getting light until well after 8.30am.  I keep having to check what day Christmas day is too. My biggest pleasure is my two kittens Flossie and Nellie, whom we ..read more
