It seems to have been a crushingly long Winter for some reason - all the dark nights, chilly days and endlessly grey light that permeate the psyche with a sense of flatness have run concurrently for far too long. Not that I haven’t found stimulation in this heavy season, which traditionally brings out my love of snow, dramatic skies and icy hoar frosts to provide a well of landscape inspiration. Experimenting with watercolour and gouache led to 2 new larger works on paper being accepted by the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours for their annual exhibition at the Mall Galleries, London ..read more

Unusually I’ve been painting daily throughout the winter, which reminded me how challenging it is to work in low light and a freezing studio - back to the old student days! At the time of writing I’m excited to say I have a piece showing in the Royal Society of British Artists’ Annual Open Exhibition this March. I’m also thrilled to finally be launching a new set of special edition prints, with eight new images added to the collection - these will be live on my website for purchasing later in February. I’m also delighted to say I’ll be appearing on a TV screen near you this February with the f ..read more

After relocating to Devon and starting building work that’s taken the best part of the year, 2022 hasn’t been the most productive work wise (it’s hard to paint when your studio has become a furniture store!). However, part of the thinking was to link the studio with my home to provide greater showing/exhibiting possibilities beyond the galleries, so this Autumn I’m focussing on producing lots of new work for just that purpose. I’m also finally working on a new collection of prints and cards in a range of sizes that will hopefully cover all price ranges, please look out for a heads up in my nex ..read more

After a very successful Summer solo exhibition, I took the opportunity to mix art with socialising by holding a lovely Christmas Open Studio event in December. I particularly enjoyed showing some of my new watercolour and gouache pieces, which are starting to inform my larger works and oil paintings. I’m excited at the opportunity to combine these disciplines on a different scale and working towards a Christmas collection was very helpful in focussing this. I’m also delighted to announce I’ve had a piece accepted for the Royal Society of British Artists annual open exhibition at the Mall Galle ..read more

My largest solo exhibition to date brings together over forty paintings, drawings and sketches recorded during the past 2 years to reflect the newly deserted spaces of lockdown and offer up a sense of our changing environment. I'm delighted to be holding the show at Grays Wharf, Penryn, the studio complex I co-founded in 2017, where work will be on display in both the gallery and in my upstairs waterside studio. Please see a slideshow of selected works included in the exhibition below. All enquiries to info@hannahwoodman.co.uk Trees and Fields Shadows 2021 CAT No 1 Watercolour on paper 25 x 3 ..read more

Following on from last year’s disappointingly timed lockdown, I’ve decided to give my 2020 collection another airing alongside the work I’ve produced in 2021. This has culminated in a rather larger than anticipated exhibition that will be taking place at my Cornwall studio complex Grays Wharf, spanning both the lovely light-filled ground floor gallery and my upstairs waterside studio. The exhibition will run from August 26th - September 5th (closed Sunday 29th) and is open daily from 10-4pm. Please do pop along and have a look if you’re in the area - all are welcome and there are lots of nice ..read more
