Hi A while back i got an JVC GR-60E camcoder. After inserting an cassette and pressing record button, after a few seconds, grey screen appears on the viewfinder. Also, after i press record, the camcoder tries to fast foward, but fails and after that the grey screen appears and it freezes. Ejecting the cassette doesn't rewind it. Tried to connect an 12v LI-ION pack charged to 9.6v to the battery contacts on the camcoder, but still same behaviour. All i have is the camcoder I bought as... Canon XF605 dynamic range vs Z Cam ProRes RAW (Ninja V+)

Hi. I just added a Z Cam E2-M4 and have shot 12 bit ProRes RAW. Stunning dynamic range. Dynamic range-wise ProRes RAW seems to outperform the XF605 in CLog3 and cinema gamut. In fact, it's hard to use the 605 as a second camera unless the highlights are minor. Any thoughts about this? I absolutely love the 605 for macro video with its incredible autofocus and that the 58mm thread accepts combinations of Canon diopters. I can't find anything on the stops of dynamic range of the 605. It... Canon XF605 dynamic range vs Z Cam ProRes RAW (Ninja V ..read more

Hi I am the Chairman of a small Amateur Dramatic group (Holbeach Amateur Theatrical Society or HATS) who have now grown to the point where we want to record our shows for posterity and our rehearsals to help our inexperienced actors get to grips with their roles. The camera will be mounted on a tripod at the other end of the hall so needs a reasonable mic to pick up the sound but all our performers will be using headphone mics. Finally, we would like one with wi-fi transmission so we... How on Earth do I choose the right camcorder??? Please ..read more

Hey folks, I got a broken Sony FDR-AX53 and wanted to sell it for parts. The problem is I used it for some confidential client work at conventions. Does someone know if the camera stores any video/image information like thumbnails or video data outside of the SD Card? (So storing it in the camera body itself somewhere) Or is it safe to sell once the SD card is removed? Thank you ..read more

Gyroflow and Action Cams

Gyroflow is a free program. It works with lots of cameras, but it works very easily with action cams - automatically stabilizing and leveling the horizon and correcting for rolling shutter - with no need to synchronize or do anything but add the clip and render. It reads the gyro data of the clip. It will work automatically with GoPros' and DJI cameras and insta360 cameras as long as you do not use in-camera stabilization and also you shoot in full frame mode (no cropping). Here are two... Everything was fine until today when I tried to digitalize my footage from my tape. (Using Elgato Video Capture - But that shouldn't have anything to do with this) I noticed something was up when I tried rewinding the tape and instead, it started fast-forwarding - After a couple seconds everything went black, and the timecode that shows the current time of the footage went to 00:00:00 - Not sure what happened but all of a sudden the whole camera started flipping out. The power/off/player... Sony CCD-TR30 Problem (Heartbroken ..read more

Is There Such a Thing as a "Flattering" Webcam?

The default software on my Samsung mobile phone is programmed to facially "flatter" the human subjects in photos. Is there such a thing as a webcam or webcam software that does the equivalent? I have a new HP desktop but the webcam is distinctly unflattering, so I am trying to figure out how I might be able to improve upon that (for purposes of tutoring online, so as not to scare my students off ..read more

Hi, I am a very new user to Photography; I purchased this camera based on my sons advise. So far, been able to shoot stills just fine, beautiful pictures from this camera. Now, I wanted to try some timelapse captures. Followed a video on how to setup the camera, but then got stuck with a setting not allowing me to change it. Is this the place to ask for help? Here is the issue, when the video said change the 3/11 menu function - Interval Shoot Func. - Interval Shooting to ON. It shows "This... ZV-E10 stuck in Movie Mode ..read more

Canon ES8400V/DVD recorder HDMI pass-thru

I have a Canon ES8400V. I have about ten Hi8 videos I need to digitize. I had previously transferred them to DVD via a standalone DVD recorder. I recently purchased a ClonerAlliance Box Pro, and I’d like to capture them again with this capture box. The camera has composite and S-video outputs. The composite output produces an inferior picture with the jagged stair step effect. The S-video picture is much better. The capture box doesn’t have an S-video input. To avoid having to capture the... Canon ES8400V/DVD recorder HDMI pass-thru ..read more

Canon XF300 still viable?

Been done photography work for a while, mainly just for friends and family but have had a lot more work lately. But I'm getting more and more requests to do video instead of photo for certain things and I've been looking at cameras. Looking for a pro/prosumer level camcorder. I was looking at the Canon XF300 because it has the features I need and want. But it being 4 years old now, I'm wondering if it's still worth investing $4,000 into. And I know some people will say just use the DSLR for... Canon XF300 still viable ..read more
