A big week for the whole Club as the London Scottish Lions took on Teddington in the Papa Johns Cup. After heavy celebrations following a league win last weekend, the Lions couldn’t quite back it up and fell to a defeat which ends their Cup journey. London Scottish have made just three changes to the side that defeated Hartpury a week ago. With an injury to Will Hobson, Rhys Charalambous steps up to start whilst Caleb Ashworth comes onto the bench. Jack Musk also returns to the side after missing out last Friday night. He will take his place on the bench in line to replace Austin Wallis as the game progresses. It wasn’t to be for the Lions this weekend as both the Lions A and B feel to tight defeats. Lions B couldn’t quite get it down against London Sussex whilst Lions A were just pipped on the last day of the season by Old Streetonians. However, this did not stop a massive end of season celebration as the Lions A celebrated yet another promotion. Next season they will compete in the Regional leagues as the Club takes another big step forwards. Under the Friday Night Lights in the first weekend of April, Bryan Redpath’s men recorded their second victory of the season as the Exiles defeated Hartpury 29-26 at the RAG. It had been a long time coming after six losing bonus points and five final minute defeats, the Exiles were ready to break that duck. The Exiles began the opening salvo on top, battering the Hartpury line but the away side defended manfully for the first 10 minutes or so. The Championship Clubs Committee met today to hear an update from their Executive on progress made in discussions about the future of Tier 2 of English rugby. While there was at one point in the recent history of this crucial process a deadline of March 31st for the selection of clubs for a second tier, that deadline was scrapped some time ago and there are currently a series of important and intensive discussions going on around the league, which will be launched for the 2025/26 season. Despite an historic win earlier in the season against Ealing Trailfinders, the fact that the men in green sat atop of the Championship with only one other defeat to their name this year did not fill many Exiles fans with confidence heading to north-west London. It was a massive weekend for the London Scottish Lions as they gained promotion from Counties Middx/Herts 1. An enormous 82-5 victory over Hitchin saw the Lions emphatically secured their space at the top of the table. Joe Gray and Bryan Redpath have named their matchday squad to take on league leaders Ealing Trailfinders on the road. Making just three changes to the match day 23, Gray and Redpath have opted for consistency this week. Cassius Cleaves makes his return to the London Scottish side after a period out with injury.
