The Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) issued the following statement regarding a helicopter crash incident at an RMN base: 1. RMN confirms that 10 individuals, comprising 7 crew members from the RMN HOM helicopter unit and 3 from the Fennec RMN unit, have perished. KUALA LUMPUR: Two Malaysian Armed Forces helicopters crashed today following a mid-air collision in Lumut, Perak. The helicopters, an Agusta Westland AW139 Maritime Operations Helicopter (HOM) and a Eurocopter Fennec, collided during a mid-air manoeuvre during a flypast training for the Royal Malaysian Navy’s (RMN) 90th Anniversary celebrations. The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) has quietly acquired the new VTOL ALTI Transition UAVs from South Africa. These unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) boast an operational endurance of 12 hours and a range of up to 100 kilometers. The UAVs will be utilized aboard Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPVs), with MMEA obtaining a total of 3 VTOL ALTI Transition UAVs for deployment on its 3 OPVs.
