The wider point I suppose I'm trying to make is there is a plethora of radars which must increase training and maintenance costs surely a bit of standardisation is in order. Agreed. Sampson, Artisan & the AWS range all have a lot in common, both hardware & software-wise, but they are not identical. Sharpeye/ Type 1007 is used on pretty much every vessel except the Archers, though I don't think Argus has had an upgrade. It might just be marketing hype, or it might be that she will get it at some point, or she may just be being used for field testing T31 is getting Thales NS100, FS ..read more

They aren't 3d radars. 2d only so no CAMM. CAMM is alleged to work with both 2D and EO systems. Would be nice to see that proved Also forgot to mention that the AWS-30 marketing blurb claims that it has been "Selected for the UK Royal Fleet Auxiliary", alongside an image of RFA Argus - it's a 3D S-band radar For CAMM to work it will need the bearing, range and height of the target, for this you really need 3d radar although there are ways of estimating the height with 2d radar, similarly with EO. What effect on effectiveness does 2d only radar have on CAMM? It works but pk and range are ..read more

In the frigate\support level we will have Artisan, NS100 and Quadome. Is there another? AWS-10 on Argus. Hunts & Sandowns have Type 1007 (Sharpeye), RB2s have Terma Scanter 4100s + Sharpeye, Archers have Decca 1216. No idea about the RB1s Statistics: Posted by Caribbean — Thu May 02, 2024 4:43 pm ..read more

https://twitter.com/NavyLookout/status/ ... 3904820702 A third rotating 3d radar in RN\RFA service. Quadome has been pitched before at OPV\corvette use. CAMM on FSS? far more than third... I was sort of classifying SAMSON to one side as a destroyer level radar. In the frigate\support level we will have Artisan, NS100 and Quadome. Is there another? The one on Argus and the one on the rivers. They aren't 3d radars. 2d only so no CAMM. Statistics: Posted by tomuk — Thu May 02, 2024 4:05 pm ..read more

If you add the SAAB 3d being fitted to trials ships it is 6 3d radar SAMPSON , S1850M , Artisan , NS110 , SAAB X1 and now Quadome and also add to this Scanter 4100 and 6000 2d radars on the OPV's , T-26 & T-31's that is a lot of radars Statistics: Posted by Tempest414 — Thu May 02, 2024 3:56 pm ..read more
