Office Work Flow

Hi everyone! I’m curious about how things work in larger, formal freight broker offices. Do they have someone posting loads on screens for others to find carriers, or how does the workflow go? Does one person handle sales, find carriers, and manage rates all in one go, and from there they get their commissions? Would love to hear how it’s structured at your place or any insights you have. Thanks for sharing your experiences! submitted by /u/migmu10 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Truck stops has landed me a lot of business for my straight trucks. I was so sketched out by this one broker that he didn’t even realize he had to send me a broker packet to sign & a rc he just emailed me the BOL etc. I was beyond sketched but then after a few google clicks I realized I was dealing with an international broker. Warehouses in Ca, TX and so forth. Got paid in 2 days even when I requested net 30 day. I’m beyond mind blown how a company that big (I have never heard of them prior but they are massive) wouldn’t know how the process goes & I also got above market value on th ..read more

Hey everyone! I own a brokerage and I was wondering if anyone knows of a company that can do api for you where it can pull from all of your carrier logins and take all of your pricing and put it into one place. You know, this way you don’t have to log in to each one individually. If anyone knows of a service or website please let me know. submitted by /u/Sp_Streamer [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Do you ever ask for the physical BOL from a carrier?

For the brokers, do you ever ask for this? If so, under what circumstances? For carriers, a word of warning: If a broker ever asks you to send the actual physical BOL as proof of delivery by mail or overnight service, you MUST REMEMBER that that one document makes you legally the final mile carrier of the load, and entitled to payment according to 49 CFR 377... If you ship the document, INSURE IT!!!! Be sure to insure it for at least the amount of the rate confirmation. If the document is lost somewhere you can get paid by through the insurance claim against the post office or overnight couri ..read more

For context, this dude got caught legitimately double-brokering a load and trying to steal it (took it to Miami). He got an automated email about a shipment we had, and this was his response. submitted by /u/GoodnightJohnBoi [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Is a 2000 mile load PHX AZ to FLORIDA(or NY) for $1350 profitable? I keep seeing loads that are up to 2000 miles for around $1000. Like i want to know if thats even a tad bit worth to do! submitted by /u/Universe2817 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
