Police are investigating after they say a group of suspects stormed into a Sunnyvale jewelry store Saturday afternoon, clearing it out in minutes. The incident happened just after 1 p.m. at Nitin’s Jewelers on El Camino Real. Police said that at least 10 people in masks burst into the store and started smashing cases. One of the suspects had a gun. According to store employees, the thieves used hammers to break the tempered glass of the display cases and clear out the store. A man who was found to be suffering from gunshot wounds inside a vehicle in Sunnyvale early Tuesday morning later died at a hospital, officials said. Just after midnight, officers responded to the 100 block of South Bernardo Avenue to investigate reports of a shooting, the city’s department of public safety said. Six days after an officer shot and killed a man in Sunnyvale, the city’s police chief answered questions and released a new video showing the confrontation. Unlike most other cities in Santa Clara County, Sunnyvale firefighters have no paramedics on staff.
