So trying to plan trip to Kenya and Uganda. Anyone know if it’s true if you go to Massai Mara in early October you are better staying further south as opposed to Mara north conservancy? And If go in mid January-mid February is it really too hot to do gorilla trekking in Bwindi national forest? Don’t want to go all that way and be miserable. Thanks ..read more

Hi, I need some ideas to resolve my booking issue for my summer trip to Dar Es Salam. Here is the Situation I am seeking advice on. - I booked our summer safari to Africa and Tanzania, specifically using Saudia Airlines for a June 15th Departure and a June 14th return. However, about 20 days ago, I received notice that they are canceling all flights to Dar Es Salam after June 30th. - Travelers: 7 Passengers 2 Children, Business Class, 3 Itineraries. The challenge to resolve: After reviewing, I noticed that there were flights departing from Nairobi; however, when I called, I am read the script ..read more

Looking for recommendations for me and my 9-yo daughter on a long layover. We land DSS at 18:40 on 25 June, and continue onward to BJL at 20:50 on 26 June, also from DSS. One thought is a nice hotel with pool and negotiate to hang out all day (e.g. Radisson Blu, Dakar Sea Plaza). Another thought is to hire a driver to pick us up in the morning, take us around to see things, and then drop us at the airport - hopefully at a reasonable cost. Are there things to see, does a driver make sense, and how would I go about arranging that? I am open to even better suggestions ..read more

Connecting airside in Marrakech - possible?

Is it possible to connect from a domestic Ryanair flight in Marrakech (ERH to RAK), then stay airside and connect on an international IB flight (RAK to MAD)? It seems that both airlines are in T1, but I'm booking a very tight connection ~ 45 min. Luggage will be carry-on. We would figure something out if we missed the flight, but I am wondering if it's just stupid to even try. Is it just a matter of going from one gate to another within the same terminal, or am I missing a step? Thanks ..read more

My other half and I just booked a trip to South Africa! We got lucky with flights - I found marginally acceptable business class award fares - and the birthday boy we're visiting chose the accommodations in JNB, but I'm really struggling with the safari portion of the trip. We only have five or six nights, which makes it seem more important that we do it 'right.' We will be in the park in early June - we may fly in to MQP or HDS, but we're comfortable driving, and there are things I wouldn't mind seeing along the way. Our primary wildlife goal is big cats, though we do understand that nature ..read more

Touring in Zanzibar

I am visiting Zanzibar (Nungwi) in June for a short time and want to visit Jozani Forest, Stone Town, Prison Island and possibly a spice farm. I don't really want to be part of an organised tour and would like to take my time exploring Stone Town. My plan is to take a taxi to Stone Town and explore myself. Can I get a boat to Prison Island independently and if so where do I pick this up from? Also, do I need to a guide for Jozani Forest, or is this somewhere I can get to by taxi and explore myself ..read more
