On November 11th I injured my knee (multi-ligament plc injury) wakeboarding which included damage to the peroneal nerve. This has resulted in foot drop and numbness on the top of my foot and shin. I’m getting surgery December 20th to repair the ligaments and decompress the nerve. The doctor says it’s more than likely my nerve will recover but could take a year. Additionally, I’ve been having increasing paresthesia and pain in my nerve, mainly in my foot. I can almost feel this pain but though my whole nerve from the knee to foot. Has anyone gone through something similar that could share thei ..read more

I am 67 and on original medicare with a suppliment insurance. After having PN for 3 years at the time, planning for the future I thought I would look around for a more comprehensive suppliment. So I called a insurance that seemed like what I thought would be a good one, it would have been a little more expensive. The rep I talked with took me through a questionnaire during the call. One of the questions was have I ever been diagnosed with PN. Of course I replied I had. After the questionnaire, the rep said that the insurance company would not take me on because of the PN. I didn't see that co ..read more

What type of Doc is best positioned to provide a diagnosis?

41/M here: Not looking for a diagnosis and my question is: What type of doctor is best to provide a diagnosis for neuropathy-would you trust a GP, or think a neuro should be making the decision? For approximately a year I've been experiencing peripheral tingling/minor numbness/"prickly-ness" (not full) in both hands and feet, as well as mandible and lower left of my face. It began with just the tip of my tongue and thumb/pointer finger a few times a day for minutes to hours, then moved to a mix of that with sometimes mandible/left face and would flare up every few weeks sometimes for a day or ..read more

My last month or two has been amazing, have really seen progress and hope. However, I spent Saturday evening with my family walking at the conservatory, which is probably more walking than I've done in a year. At that time it seemed to go fine I had good shoes and I didn't have any discomfort. I really didn't start feeling it until Monday and now Monday and Tuesday have been unbearable, pain on all sides of my feet and toes. Particularly the front of my feet and my toes. Very little sleep. I am assuming this went with the excessive walking and was wondering if anybody else has had this? This ..read more

I’m 74 I have been working out all my life, up until 3 months ago. About 3 years ago I started to feel a burning, numbness in my feet and legs fast forward now my feet burn me all night and most of the day and over the last month I have days when I wake up with pain all over my body (hip, knees, legs, shoulders, back) like a deep muscle pain/soreness. Some days I can’t walk. Then the next day I’m fine. My sleep and over all quality of life is slowly becoming miserable. I also become tired earlier than normal from waking up so many times. My doctor did blood work and everything came back fine ..read more

Are any of you taking Nortriptyline for your nerve pain and having success? I just recently started talking it for my crps nerve pain. I also take Pregabalin as well but it’s not helpful enough on it’s own submitted by /u/Ok-Recognition5380 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Orgasms allow me to feel my feet…

Does anyone else experience this? The sensation is fleeting, but AMAZING for the two seconds it’s there. As someone who’s relatively inexperienced sexually, I’m curious is this is related to my worsening neuropathy… or just a (normal) pleasant sensation associated with orgasm. ? submitted by /u/jk1jkjk2 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hi I’m 30. I’ve been feeling peripheral neuropathy pain since I was 25. The assumption is that it’s caused by diabetes. I’m trying to reverse it. (I know people say it’s difficult or impossible. But I live off of hope.) I’ve heard that it’s painful as it begins to heal. Which I think I’m experiencing firsthand currently.? but I just wanted to know if anyone else is in a similar situation or was able to reverse theirs especially if it’s a diabetic. submitted by /u/fireishotz [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
