I've had poorly controlled type 1 diabetes for a decade. 3 years ago I suddenly started having severe gastric distress that has only gotten worse. I just woke up one day after happily eating meat for 22 years. I've been going to various hospitals to figure out what is wrong, and most just say gastroparesis but I have been unsatisfied with this conclusion (and the botox injections to my stomach did nothing).
The way it presents itself is: eating meat (beef, chicken, fish etc) eggs, and some...

Hi guys,
What do you recommend as your sugary snack to fix a hypo?
I've been using chewits and the newly vegan fruittella, but they're actually **** hard to chew when trying to fix yourself!
Also, does it make much of a difference if you keep insulin in the fridge or not please?
Thanks!

For realistic carbohydrate calculations, one needs to know what they are.
South India is famous for its lentil-based super delicious vegetable preparations. This is consumed two times a day in most homes. The carbohydrate and calorie values for these are non-existent or absent. Even those that exist on food sites are not so good. The reason is that Sambar or Rasam are not even properly defined. Also, some of them are from North Indian recipes that are different from the South Indian.

I’m newly diagnosed T2, have been vegan for around 5 years and had a difficult start with the nurse at my new GP surgery. He said it’s really not healthy to be vegan when you have diabetes because all the sources of protein have carbs in and has encouraged a resumption of meat and dairy. I don’t believe this to be true and I’m not prepared to do it so now have no confidence in his care. Any advice gratefully received. Thanks

Most South Indian families eat Rasam, or Sambhar with rice or chapati. Both Rasam and Sambhar have carbohydrates from the cereals and vegetables in them. It is not easy to count the carbs as these are not standardized items with each family having its own recipe. These are not minor components of meals either. How do you meaningfully and regularly quantify the carbohydrate content in a sustainable program?
I agree to add the carbohydrate values of the ingredients but are carbohydrate values...
