We will be traveling 3000 miles over 5 days with 4 and 2 yo in tow! What are some good travel foods and snacks that keep well and are tasty too? We are taking the normal carrot, cucumbr, radish and pickle slices but I need more than that. My kids are BIG snackers so I really need some nutritionaly packed stuff that isnt full of gross stuff. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated ..read more

Hey mamas!! I have a picky 10 yr old  Several months ago, I picked up a box of Boca burgers for a quick last minute dinner (all the store had) and my 10 yo has since decided that those are the ONLY veggie burgers he likes. I rely on burgers at least once/week for dinner and need to find a better alternative, preferably homemade burger for our normal rotation. He likes the smooth texture (no chunks/veggie chunks, seeds, etc.) Anyone have a good, basic veggie burger recipe?? TIA ..read more

Who has an awesome hummus recipe?

We love hummus in our house. It's a go-to snack and I often make hummus sandwiches for my son's lunch because we're not supposed to send peanut butter stuff to his day care. I make a ton of stuff from scratch, but unfortunately whenever I try to make homemade hummus, I don't like it as much as the store bought kind! I've tried several recipes. In general I find homemade hummus to be thicker and more garlicky than I like. I have tried altering ingredient amounts but have never come up... Who has an awesome hummus recipe ..read more

dh's brother and sister-in-law saw a video about milk production recently and decided to eliminate dairy from their diets (they were already vegetarian). since then they've both had skin problems, especially my bil. he's prone to acne as it is, so i'm not sure it's related. could it be because he's having too much soy? it can't be from NOT having milk right? i think it's great that they've gone vegan (even though i'm not vegan any more) and would hate to see them stop it because of this... skin problems from going vegan ..read more

Hello, I have been vegetarian for over 11 years now. I started when I was pg with my second child. I have 5 children now (pg with my 6th). All but my oldest, I had vegetarian for sometime (anywhere from 2 years to 6+ years). With each child the time has gotten longer. My two youngest ( ages 6 and 2) are still vegetarian and my others are not. Recently my 6 yo has been begging to eat meat (as she sees her siblings and dad eat it). I used to always say that once they asked (and understood)... Forcing Children to be vegetarian ..read more

Alright, hopefully I'm amusing some of you. I tried googling and got a bunch of scientific jargon.... I was buying hemp milk the other day and this guy just randomly said, "I like to stay away from isolates, so I use this one." So what did that mean? What are they? Where are they found? Something's apparently wrong with them? Always trying to do better........................................... Thanks... Dumb question of the day - what are isolates ..read more

Hello! I have a friend who has had her gall bladder removed and so she has pain when she eats fatty foods, especially meats. So, does anyone have good ideas or recipes that use combos of other protein sources so she can get a good mixture of all the amino acids? She was interested in trying to work tofu into her diet, but I know too much processed soy isn't really a good thing. On another note, her husband is a real "meat and potatoes" kinda guy and she has no idea how to make meals that... Need ideas / recipes for someone with gall bladder removed ..read more
