Passive Airbnb turned 5 years old last month!

Wow. 5 years just freaking flew by. I wrote, built, and managed contractors.  Man, that was a lot of work.  5 years- half a decade. It has a different ring to it. Half a decade. My mission for starting Passive Airbnb was to provide good information on hosting and starting a business. I didn’t arrive at this mission organically – it was through trial and errors and undoubtedly  through my own efforts. I learned to take calculated risks ( I wish more schools would teach this skill earlier in K-12). I think I accomplished all of that. My realization for the next 5 years hit me in t ..read more

I’m here to get into why these two things could be a deterrent for some people and how to best get around it. First, I should clarify there’s no silver bullet. If you really want to start your own Passive Airbnb business then you must do the work. Success is not complicated, it just takes consistent work. I’ve been preaching that for the last 3 years now. Baller who’s looking to start a Passive Airbnb business (to celebrate black history month).Bad or Low Credit Score Hey, this happens. Some of us are new to the game of “building” a credit score. You might only have a debit card. And “credit s ..read more

Airbnb interior designer is my secret weapon
Passive Airbnb Blog
by Sam Zuo

Almost 4 years ago, when I started my Airbnb business, I did a smart thing by hiring a professional Airbnb interior designer. She was good but expensive! And I was happy to outsource all of the interior ‘design’ headaches to her. Some of those headaches were way out of my league, like how to pick the right pillowcase for your bed so it “POPS OUT” in a photo-shoot. Others were rudimentary like how to pick furniture that fits a design ‘theme.” I didn’t have any interests to tackle those problems because I had hundreds of other things to worry about. Everything was planned accordingly. The sooner ..read more

I read 45 books this year

Reading was never a hobby of mine. I remember reading textbooks and thinking about how it bored the life out of me. It was a stultifying process. But hey, I needed that B.A. degree so I sucked it up like other millions of Americans who graduate from college every year. I’m not knocking on education. It was probably one of the most transformative periods in my life. What I’m getting at is that reading when done well can be fun and educational. I only wished I could have learned that earlier in my adulthood or perhaps even childhood. It’s better late than never, so here’s to how I read 45 books ..read more

This post was written for my students and I haven’t shared it with the public until today. In it, I described how I made over $13,000 in Passive Airbnb Income while I traveled the world. This is the holy grail of Passive Income. Last year, when the world was open. When a virus didn’t wreak havoc on Homo Sapiens, I was lucky enough to have a business that sustained my travel lifestyle. And I traveled far and wide. I took a 4-week vacation with my girlfriend. My trip had 3 parts: We took a camper van and drove it from California all the way to Colorado (hiked all the national parks along the wa ..read more

What it feels like to be in the top 5% tax bracket
Passive Airbnb Blog

How long does it take to get to the top 5% tax bracket? I’ve cleared close to $300k from Airbnb and another $200k from my blog in 2019. It was the most amount of money I’ve ever made in my 30 years living on this planet. 2019 Airbnb earnings Majority of income from my blog comes from ecourse sales What I realized is that, it isn’t worth the “hype.” I had doubled my income roughly every year or so… while this is a great achievement and fiscally it is, but then why do I feel a sense of lacking? The first book that changed my life was Tim Ferriss’ 4-hour workweek. I modeled my lifestyle and ..read more

Passive Airbnb is turning 3 years old!
Passive Airbnb Blog

Exactly 3 years ago, I launched Passive Airbnb. The goal was simple. I was tired of finding half-ass information on how to start an Airbnb business while having to pay for bad and outdated advice from these so-called Airbnb experts. While some “experts” were definitely more informative than others, but the niche market on ‘how to start an Airbnb business’ lacked behind… What irked me was that some of these proclaimed experts didn’t even have skin in the game anymore. I started PA with one goal in mind – to provide valuable and updated information on becoming an Airbnb entrepreneur. The idea of ..read more
