Are you looking for a fresh alternative to traditional notetaking? Flip books are an engaging way to organize information. I love to use them to organize grammar topics or to summarize information about a cultural topic. What are flipbooks? Flip books usually take ordinary pieces of paper and cut, fold, and staple them into a book format. I personally like the cut-free flip book style because they don’t waste paper! Why use flip books? There are so many benefits to using flip books, including having everything organized in one place. For example, my Preterite Tense flip book is popular ..read more

I often hear from other Spanish teachers that it is difficult to fit holidays into their curriculum because of time constraints. They may be able to fit in a few Hispanic holidays over the course of the year as part of their Spanish class curriculum, but they definitely don’t have time to do activities for every holiday. Whether it’s for significant holidays such as Black History Month or Women’s History month, or for fun ones like St. Patrick’s Day or Valentine’s Day, here are 7 ways you can incorporate holidays into your Spanish class in a meaningful way while also incorporating your curri ..read more

Self-grading Google Sheets are a powerful tool for educators, allowing students to practice skills and receive immediate feedback. I put together all of the best parts of using Google Sheets to create a collection of puzzles covering various grammar topics. Additionally, I added a fun element where students can collect a passport stamp as they master each concept! Let me walk you through it! Students start off with a blank puzzle. In this example, we are practicing deciding to use ser or estar and c ..read more

La Tomatina is held on on the last Wednesday of August in Buñol, Spain.  The origin of the largest food fight in the world is unclear.  The theories of how it began in 1945 include a food fight among friends that escalated, an angry man who fell off of a parade float picked a fight with the crowd and they defended themselves with tomatoes, or an overturned tomato truck which turned into a food fight.  Regardless of how it began, the people of Buñol enjoyed it so much that it became a yearly tradition called the Tomatina Festival. The Tomatina begins with people attempting to ..read more

Tech Tip Tuesday: An Easy Fix for PDF Issues

I get questions and emails about issues with pdfs not functioning correctly and almost always, the fix is simple! Whether it’s not letting you type in an editable box, it’s printing squares around images, or it’s not opening or printing like it should, this fix usually solves the problem! When you download a resource from TpT, you can usually click at the bottom of your screen to open your download. However, if your computer is not set to use Adobe Reader as your default PDF viewer, it may use a different program to open it. That is usually the source of any issues because you are opening ..read more

This is the second post in my First Days of Spanish class series.  As I mentioned in Part 1:  Building Relationships, I think it’s best to do a mixture of these activities during the first few days of school.  It may be tempting to “lay down the law” right away, but bombarding your students with all of your rules, procedures, expectations, and requirements for the entire class period will be way too much for your students to handle.  Get your most important rules established the first day, and then throw in the rest over the next few days. Spice up Rules and Procedures wit ..read more

I’ve talked before about my love for all things memes!  I have a ton of them saved on my Jajaja and Teacher Memes boards on Pinterest.  I decided to organize them by verb tenses and themes so that I can easily find the memes I need for specific verb tenses.  These are fun to use as warmups, conversation starters, on your notes or PowerPoints, or on quizzes and tests to give students a little giggle.  Click on each image below to find the corresponding Pinterest board.  I will be adding more as I find more memes for each tense. I hope you enjoy these m ..read more
