Car rental reservations in Europe without credit card required?

I booked a couple of rentals for this summer and in both cases, I was not required to enter my credit card to confirm the booking. Full payment due at pickup. Only thing I can think of is that they were booked through Expedia and Priceline and they’re part of the same conglomerate? The other thing is they were short bookings in smaller tourist venues, CFR or Caen airport and Como, Italy. The first was a one-way booking and the second was same pickup and drop off. Has anyone else reserved cars in Europe without prepayment or even providing the number and the rental went okay ..read more

Can’t remember facing this one before, but certainly many of you will have. Because of an emergency in the family, I had to extend my Hertz (1 Club Gold, President’s Circle) rental and change return location from EWR to JFK. Called the 800 227 4653 number to get a human after a 24 minute wait, and the following transpired with “Abby” speaking with a heavy accent, possibly from SE Asia (does Hertz have a call center in the Philippines?).After asking for my data (rental agreement, full name, date of birth) three times, I was told that returning the Newark rental to JFK was impossible, and that ..read more

Hi, Rented at the enterprise in Folsom, CA and they didn't have the car class and said they could only upgrade to a truck and that the policy is that they will not honor the rate if booked less than 24 hours in advance. I called Enterprise to ask if it was policy and got a non response and wrote to care@enterprise.com to ask and state that I tried to refute it (and wrote called instead of my initials in the box). If the 24 hour rule is policy, I will not pursue it but I cannot find it anywhere ..read more

Hertz Gold Members arriving at MCO Terminal C 2024

Has anyone recently picked up a rental car at Hertz in Terminal C of MCO? As a Hertz Gold member accustomed to the fast process at Terminals A and B, where skipping the counter and heading straight to the garage to select your vehicle or find your pre-assigned spot is the norm, I'm curious about the experience at the new Terminal C. What's the Gold member experience like there? How is Hertz handling the process? Are cars reserved specifically for Terminal C pickups? What about the availability of cars to choose from at Terminal C compared to Terminal A. Is there a similar range of options, or ..read more

How to split a bill between company and I?

I am renting a car for 10 days, 7 of those days are covered by the company and 3 of those days are myself. It is a road trip whereby I want extra time to visit more cities during the way back. The first 7 days will be on company time and the latter 3 days are personal vacation. The issue is that it is a road trip so dropping off the car between 2 contracts is not an option. Also my company is very particular that the credit payment amt needs to match the bill amt. So there a possibility to rent a car for 7 days, and then have a "late fee extension" with the car company and I pay that out of ..read more

Hi all, have a tricky reservation coming up where I need the car for about 26 hours. I'm renting from a location that's open on Saturday's but closed on Sundays. Let's say I to book it from 10am Saturday - 10am Sunday, and the Enterprise branch is closed all day Sunday. If I were to return it at Noon on Sunday... would enterprise know, or would they go thru the trouble of charging me for an extra day? If anyone has any experience with this please let me know. Thanks ..read more
