Weird Turbo behavior.

When I press the on the gas around 2500rpm it feels like something is blocking the intake, my car even dips down in the front like I’m braking. Then around 3500-4000 the exhaust bangs and it usually behaves normally after that. Today I made a 2nd gear pull and it did that through the entire RPM range. Any ideas what it could be? submitted by /u/anotheraccinthemass [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Spool up hot side

I've never really worked on cars before so maybe this is common knowledge but I couldn't find it anywhere online. I had an idea for improving exhaust-gas flow. I would base it of the hot-side of a turbo, but instead of it driving the cold side, an electric motor would drive the hot side. So in simple terms, this would "pull" the exhaust out of the engine. Would this be possible? Or is a standard turbo not suitable for this. Thanks in advance! submitted by /u/Jveth45 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Caught this at an antique car show just as they were packing up to leave. The owner said it packs a 100 shot and could go up to 300 or 500 (it was a much higher number thats all I remember)

The owner said that when he took it to the strip, it raised the front wheels off the ground a couple inches. submitted by /u/TheBeanAccountant [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

How bad is no BOV for my turbo

So I want to block of my BOV so I can get that sweet, sweet turbo flutter. I know that there are other ways to get turbo flutter and I know that having the Airpressure backup through the turbo isn't good for it. However I want to know, how bad it is, like should i expect to buy a new turbo every 10km / 5miles? And if so, why do some people still run it without a BOV? Aswell as what would some cheap alternatives be to get turbo flutter without blocking the BOV and do those options still fuck your turbo? I have basic understanding of how everything works, but if you could dumb it down I would ..read more

How do I choose a turbo?

Hey guys, so I recently got a new car and I want to install a better turbo on it, the only problem is i don't know how to choose the right one, also since it already has a turbo i was wondering if i have to get a full kit or if just the turbo is enough. Since it's a pretty rare car (2018 Polo tgi) there aren't any dedicated turbokits for it. Can I just get a generic one and what measurements/ stats are important for getting the right one? I'm really new to the whole thing so any help is appreciated ? submitted by /u/4doorsmorelores [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

So i’ve had my evo x for about 2 years now and i love the car, when driving the car everything sounds fine from the inside you can hear the intake sucking air and the BOV doing its job. Turbo seems to be boosting fine as ive never felt a loss of power (dont have a boost gage). The other day I asked my friend to take a video from outside and i noticed this high pitch sound coming from the turbo (witch i can only hear in videos, you dont hear it high pitched like that from inside the car everything sounds normal). This isnt something new either it always sounded like that from outside. I would ..read more
