But the third one is different? White Label? On the first two drives the seagate warranty shows 2027. This white label one says its being broken down from a larger system. Bought from a competitior same page, about 3 days apart. I was kind of expecting the third to be the same as the first two. Technically the listing has "OEM" in title and 5 years "return to base warranty" Should I be concerned? Is this any different than my first two? Is the last one lesser quality... Hi all. Those of you that have these external drives, do you use the original cable (USB-C to USB-A) that came with them? Out of all the other accessories I have including an older T3, these 2 cables are the only ones I have trouble connecting to either the USB sockets on the front of my PC, the top of the PC and a spare at the back. They just seems too tight a fit, and will only go in with a bit of force, so I'm using a cable that came with my T3, that's fine except I need a couple more... Read more ..read more

Hi all. I am going to upgrade my 2GB SSD PCIe3 to a 4TB Lexar NM790 PCIe4 (both Nvme) so I don't need to worry about game install storage for a while. I have a MSI x570 motherboard with 2x PCIE SSD slots and of course my current SSD is in the primary slot. I am please looking for advice on how the process works as I have only done it with regular HDD's before. To upgrade the SSD do I either: 1) Put the new SSD in the secondary slot then clone it from Windows and THEN swap it over to... Read more ..read more

I've moved my 'server' from upstairs under the TV to next to my PC in the office, however now its sat next to someone, rather than at the other side of the livingroom one of the drives is a bit noisier than I would like. So, anyone on here running something similar where they have compared WD/Seagate drives for noise levels while in use? I was going to swap all of the spinners for SSD's but prices have shot up over the last few months and there's a Seagate 7200 drive in there that's noisey... Read more ..read more

Hello to everyone. I have connected a 3.5” 7200rpm SATA HDD to my pc juts for backup. My pc currently has 2x M.2 SSD on slot 1 and 2 in my motherboard. The problem is the SATA hard drive is not recognised by Bios and windows. I know that not all sata ports are working with my motherboard when it’s running 2x M.2 drives. I have connected it to the port which should be working. But still no luck. If somebody could point me into the right direction it would be much appreciated. Thanks. My pc... Read more ..read more

For two hard drives. Same make, capacity and retailer, ordered within the same week to have different sound profiles? One is completely silent at idle, the other has a constant buzzing. Not the best start to my NAS, but I had so much confidence with the first drive been almost silent apart from the very odd clicking ..read more

NVME or Solid State for gaming?

Hi all, My SATA HDD is failing and I want to replace it, i've been out of the loop for ages but gather NVME is now the best option - is it suitable for gaming as well as storage? I notice the interface is different, doesn't seem to have any cables. I think i aleady have an NVME for OS - I know if depends on motherboard, but presumably most boards allow for more then one NVME? Best Practice for NAS HDD Backup

Hi all, Curently have a 25 GB SSD Unraid server. I've just bought a EXO 18TB HDD to back up all the essential files and store it offsite. Just wondering is there a best practice to do this? Like how long can a traditional hard drive hold data if not plugged in? Should I be errasing all my data and rebacking up a fresh copy every few months/year so nothing is staying in the same place too long (Bit Rot IIRC?). Any advice would be appreciated ..read more
