My suggestion is based on joining the service between the morning and afternoon peak hours. An bourly bus service would be sufficient during off peak hours. Before it was disbanded a number of years ago it ran an hourly service with route 6 to Earlwood. At present there is a bus service between Rockdale and Earlwood and onto Campsie. My suggestion would be to run the route 453 in off peak hours between Carlton and Rockdale then onto at least Arncliffe away from the existing route 473. Route 453 should return to operate between Carlton Station and Rockdale in the off peak period as was inn previous times. Why? Was it used much back then, around 20 years ago? Statistics: Posted by Glen — Fri May 17, 2024 4:32 am ..read more

I agree with that suggestion. At present routes 476 and 477 have a 15 minute service in both directions from Rockdale Plaza which is good. I think route 958 has a 30 minute service to Rockdale Plaza. Route 455 has a 30 minute off peak service with an hourly service extending to Rockdale Plaza during off peak hours. All route 455 off peak services should be extended to Rockdale Plaza. It also has a very poor morning peak hour service. Statistics: Posted by hugh45 — Fri May 17, 2024 3:44 am ..read more

There is room for 2 buses. When the route 111 and 194 went to Hurstville, there were 2 buses at this stop. And what about making the St George hospital-Rockdale Plaza section of the 455 full time again rather then having every second 455 service continue onto the plaza Statistics: Posted by Campbelltown busboy — Fri May 17, 2024 3:14 am ..read more

I have thought of some bus diversions that could be made in my area. Route 493 could be curtailed between Rockdale and Kingsgrove as there are other existing bus routes between Rockdale and Kingsgrove and also Beverly Hills. Route 493 between Bexley and Bexley North is covered by a frequent service on route 420. Route 493 from Rockdale via Harrow Road, Washington Street and Dunmore Street could be covered by diverting Route 453 to these streets. Route 453 should return to operate between Carlton Station and Rockdale in the off peak period as was inn previous times. This would leave Route 49 ..read more

The business case for the WSA metro states that it would only have 880 passengers per hour in the peak direction in the early years. With 15tph, that equates to around 60 passengers per train or 20 passengers per carriage in a 3 car train. It's no wonder that the focus has now been changed to extension of the SWRL and conversion to metro, when it was previously given a low priority. Do you think this would warrant a train every 4 minutes? No, it certainly wouldn't until the corridor reaches a critical mass to warrant it. But that's what we now have. Getting back to the subject of this th ..read more

Good to see a change in focus to SWRL extension. Apparently the trains on the WSA Metro will be wider than the current metro stock with provision for luggage.
