Good Morning, I spoke with John Vos, OSHA regarding questions during the workshop. Q) Can a inflatable with a motor be used for a rescue skiff? A) Yes, providing it is already inflated and easy to deploy. Q) Can a boat/skiff with paddles be used for a rescue skiff? A) Depends on the conditions. If it’s a strong current or large body of water that would be difficult to get too in the event of an injured worker floating away, then no. However, if you are on an small tributary with little to know current or tide swing, they paddles could possibly be utilized. It will be specific to the job site a ..read more

We will have approximately 4 more meetings to attend and possible additional legislative work in 2024. Our Association is small and is difficult for us to absorb the cost, however the Board understood it had no choice but to budget the money on something so impactful to ..read more

Florida Marine Contractors Association

Good Morning, I received an update this morning that the Governor signed HB 1383/SJ 661 into Law yesterday. It extends the deadline for sunsetting of local licenses until July 1, 2024, but it also provides a bit more clarity on the counties abilities to continue to issue local licenses that are substantially similar to the State Level license. This is a partial victory and know we will have more work to do during next years legislative session. Thank you to all that have supported me through the process of working with our legislatures to help correct the unintended consequences of HB 735. Goo ..read more
