Latvia recommendations…

I’ll be in Riga in early September on business. Visited last year and loved the City. That said; I’m pretty sure I took most of it in. Debating taking in a hunt in Latvia if opportunity presents itself. A quick online search turns up a few Red Stag, Roe Deer and Moose opportunities. I’ve done Stags in Argentina; but, certainly not opposed to chasing one again during the roar. Never done Moose or Roe Deer. Anyone have any experience, recommendations or tips ..read more

At my state SCI event, I was the high bidder of a Roe Deer hunt in Serbia. The owner of the operation suggested that I do the hunt in April. Is there any advantage or disadvantage of doing this? I assume they would have their antlers back by that time. This would be for 2025 ..read more

Anyone have any contacts for Austria. I’d like to avoid the booking agents and Luxury hotels and talk direct to the Game manager/pro hunter/landowner and arrange a trip for this fall. One day I’d like to hunt Ibex but I’ll dip my toe in Europe for a chamois thank you ..read more

Fellow Hunters - I'm off to Hungary in September for the second week of the stag rut. I've been before to hunt roebuck and boar, but this is my first time for stag, and my first time in the area just above Croatia and Pecs. Much appreciate any insights from anyone who has gone before. I have a long-standing relationship with the outfitter, but I highly value the experience and advise of this community. Thanks / R ..read more

Sad thoughts...

Around 1982, I came to Southern Africa to spend some voluntary time on a farm, which finally turned into 15 great years, or better into "best-time-of-my-life" which I never will forget! Now in Europe, most things have changed! I spend my offtime not in the wild, as I did in Africa. No, my "wild" today is a roughly 300 hectare sized rented batch, situated in the most west of Germany, next to the dutch border. Landscape is mostly huge agriculture fields with some little islands of bush or... Read more ..read more

Tip planning guidance for European hunts?

Almost afraid to bring this up, but couldn’t find much through search… I would like to know what kind of tip budget I should squirrel away for a European hunt. Particularly curious about who should generally be considered besides the PH. In Africa there turned out to be like 30 folks I needed to account for, between the various staff, trackers, skinners, PH, etc. Is it a simpler setup if hunting in say Hungary, Slovakia, or Romania? I would feel ashamed if someone stuck their neck out for... Read more ..read more

My non hunting partner and I completed our combined vacation this September (2023). Our first trip to Europe, we found it amazing, on Scenic Cruise from Nuremberg to Budapest! A great introduction to foreign lands, and has our 100% recommendations. I had found an agent through WTA, Passions and Prey.com. The outfitter Albert was more than welcoming, he arranged our accommodations acceptable for my nonhunter partner, introduced us to his country with side trips and unique experiences. He...
