Hi, We are part-time liveaboards but having cruised the length of the Med since 2001. Presently in Alghero and intending to get to western Med to just do the living aboard without the cruising and be as close to our home in N. Ireland allowing for shortest flights. We woukd like to sample France before Spain again. We had a week in Sete some years ago and enjoyed it unfortunately the waiting list is long for there. However, we do have the opportunity of a berth in Port Gruissan. Can anyone give us some comments or experience of there. Our main interests are coffee, eating & drinking and fo ..read more

For some odd reason, I can’t seem to figure this out, no matter how much I search, the answer is always elusive. The constraints are, within Europe the continent, or close to, and on a budget. Since the budget is relative in nature, let’s not use it as an excuse to ditch the question. The premises are, one would need to, within one day (or maybe two if necessary), pick up the boat, grocery shop, fill with water and diesel and return to the same spot. I’m assuming on anchor, but not necessarily so, could be tied somewhere or whatever. The aim or intent or objective is to be as secluded as po ..read more

HOW to find a sailboat partner in Italy/Greece etc.

I currently live in San Diego and have been in a great sailboat partnership for 5 years. It has been the best situation for me for all the obvious reasons; Shared knowledge, shared cost, shared maintenance, and the boat gets more use and therefore stays in better shape. I will be moving to Italy in the next couple years and would like the same scenario. In the US we have Craigslist, Offerup, and boat brokers that actively list partnerships. My question is what is the best method to find like-minded sailors who might enjoy a partnership in the Med, or who currently have a boat that would like ..read more

Asking the hive mind where to get a good quality British Ensign, the one that came with our boat has finally given up the ghost, tattered and faded. It was a good quality sewn type and I would like to replace it with another quality flag. So where are you getting your flags from (I am based in the UK, boat is in Greece) Cheers ..read more
