Gunmen opened fire at a concert hall in a Moscow suburb leaving dead and wounded before a major fire spread through the building, Moscow's mayor and Russian news agencies have reported.
Attackers dressed in camouflaged outfits entered the building, opened fire and threw a grenade or incendiary bomb, according to a journalist for the RIA Novosti news agency who was at the scene.
Fire quickly spread through the Crocus City Hall, north of the Russian capital, where the theatre can hold...

The True Finns party had been one of the major Nordic eurosceptic parties in recent years, winning 38 seats in 2015, and joining the ruling Finnish coalition. Since entering government, however, their popularity has waned, and its leader Tino Soini (who converted to Catholicism after a visit to Ireland) resigned. The leadership election saw a major rift in the party, however, between mainstream eurosceptics, and the successful anti-immigration, anti-Islamic wing. This prompted the old guard...

Whatever your opinions on Islam and its position in Europe, it seems to be a significant current issue. For a variety of reasons this religion has had regular coverage and debate in the media, among other places on issues surrounding it accross the continent. But why might this be? Could it be that there be a possible Islamification of Europe under way?
This article Islam Watch - "Islamization of Europe: A theory of the Islamization process in European countries" - by No Sharia...

Polish prime minister to hold referendum on EU’s immigration plan
Mateusz Morawiecki to ask voters if they want to accept ‘thousands of illegal immigrants’ under the bloc’s proposed new rules
www.theguardian.com
As the article above outlines, the Polish PM plans to bring a referendum to the Polish people on immigration quotas required by the EU.
This PM is a little too far to the Right for my liking on many issues but I agree (although not with the wording) on the principle here.
European governments need to consult their electorates before enacting policies which dramatically and ..read more

There is a war in Europe. There is a desperate dictator looking to expand conflict to avoid scrutiny of his mission failure, a petty buffer country warlord pressed into service at the frontier of Poland, a propaganda machine silencing voices at home, convicts thrown at cannons, a neighbouring country being razed everywhere his forces tread, hundreds of thousands of casualties, a clear menace to global peace and rule of law festering 11 time zones across with a rogue mercenary army and leader...

On a recent European flight I had the luck to sit beside 2 Finnish citizens both female on their way to a conference.
They both late 30's / early 40's (their call on age) and we compared growing up in Ireland v Finland.
One of the things the mentioned as while both grew up on edge of major city they now see a real difference in population.......... no babies.
Both indicated that while from different areas on a recent school reunion they casually counted the number of old school friends who...

There was an irreconcilable dispute over immigration policy, and their most recent coalition government has been dissolved.
.......
Apparently the opposition are throwing a party.
More than that I do not know, other that the native Dutch population have been perpetually divided being pro-immigration, and anti-immigration.
Mark Rutte, their most recent PM, was presumably in favor?
Gert De Wilders, does he comprise the opposition?
Well he absolutely slates Dutch immigration policy on...

The next “temperature” is on the foreign policy agenda of Budapest
This time, it is about aggressive statements by right-wing radical Tomasz Schneider regarding the federalization of Ukraine, made by the leader of the Hungarian party “Jobbik” during his private visit to the Beregovsky district (Ukraine).
Actually, the statement by Tomasz Schneider contained appeals to support Transcarpathia by his party on the way to gain autonomy from...

You wont have heard much of it in the media but there was a micro-bailout in south-eastern Europe earlier this month. Romania lent its neighbour, Moldova, US$171m to keep the dirt-poor country ticking over. Romania is far from being an economic powerhouse but its 4-5 times richer per head than the country on its north-eastern border.
Moldova is by some distance the poorest country in Europe. Its GDP per capita is less than half that of Albanias, its lower than countries such as Laos...
