Consisting of a quartet proudly from Chicago, Fall Out Boy rose from the punk and hardcore scene in 2001. For the first half of the band’s career, bassist Pete Wentz wrote the song’s lyrics. Wentz isn’t the type of writer to conjure up a bunch of make-believe stories or participate in concept album-worthy world-building. Instead, his specialty is in introspection, self-reflection and clever wordplay.

It’s all love and praise, but only after they’re dead.
