This is my new main thread for my primary reef tank. Originally my reef was a 120g where I ended up tearing it down under the threat of having to move soon which was resolved. At the same time that was happening my fish were pulled out of my DT to treat for prazi resistant flukes and to stay in holding tanks. I had setup a basic 40b to house my corals also during that time. Now that I wasn't about to move I decided a brand new 40b on sale was pretty cheap and worked on setting that up as a... Hi everyone, this is going to be my journal for my aquarium build. My tank is a ProStar 90 from ProClear Aquatics, and the DT has a volume of around 65 gallons. Including the sump and accounting for the displacement from the rocks, I'd say about 75 gallons total. I chose this aquarium because of the metal stand, the low cost, the high quality, and the ease of assembly. I considered several other tanks from different manufacturers (Red Sea, Waterbox, etc) but I went with this one in the end... Read more ..read more

well well. Here we go again. I am nearing completion of some home projects that will allow me to build the stands for each of these aquariums. @Neilp2006 is being extremely generous and will gift me his old 125g that was serving as his sump. I will have them next to each IRL and thought it would be fun to have them in the same build thread. Also provides inspo for a cool title I also traded 2x of my 400w coralvue MH ballasts for 2x 250w coralvue MH ballasts over on r2r... Read more ..read more

Well, I might have gone and done a thing.... I have been looking for a 6-foot tank for a while now. The 8-foot tank is just too big for my space so 6 feet will have to be the size. I liked the size of this one being 18 wide and only 22 inches tall. To me, this is a perfect-sized tank for what I want to do. So I will try and keep this up-to-date as things happen. This will actually be the largest single tank I have had. So I am very excited to do this build as I get to use all the things I... Read more ..read more

So this happened this weekend: @Gspeed did such a nice job on this accent wall in my office that I just couldn't envision keeping an ugly workbench there long term (and to be honest, I didn't really like having it in here anyway). It should look just lovely with a nice, 4ft tank as a centerpiece, so this happened today: Here we go again... Tank and stand: Innovative Marine EXT 100 Gallon Complete Reef System, 47.3" x 23.6" x 19.7"... Read more ..read more

Let's get the important parts out of the way...Yes, I have seen the movie and I don't remember much other than some one-liners from Christian Slater and the fact that Tony Hawk is in it. Alright, so I figured this is a good time to start this thread considering that I am 2/3 done with my shopping list and I have been stuck in paralysis analysis on the last steps, so let me take a step back and do something else. If you remember or care I am brand new to reefing and I started by putting... Read more ..read more
