Addicted to Love (1997) Edgy rom-com ahead of it's time or a misjudged attempt thats best forgotten?

This 1997 Rom-com had the stars and a big cinema release but did not preform at the Box Office and is now forgotten. Had the cinema going public gotten it wrong and this darker movie for Meg Ryan and Matthew Broderick was ahead of it's time and deserves another look, or was it simply a misjudgement that is best left in the bargain bin of a now abandoned blockbuster video? I'm a fan of the movie but not seen it in years, I showed it to James Rowe from King Street Cinema, this is what we had to say about it... What are your thoughts and memories of this movie? Do let us know ..read more

I was at my local multiplex on an evening off, I'd seen pretty much everything apart from Fast X, I was about to buy a ticket when I noticed there was a screening of Thelma and Louise, a 30 plus year old movie I had never seen. I figured I'd give it a go. Although not really the kind of film we cover on the show I thought I would talk about my thoughts briefly and tell you about some future episodes and guest we have coing up on the podcast ..read more

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre part 2 (1986) - Leatherface in love??

In 1974 Tobe Hooper made the horror masterpiece The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, considered by many to be one of the greatest scary movies ever made and influencing the genre greatly after it's release. More than a decade later he made it's long awaited sequel. a movie that now has cult status but bombed at the box-office and got ripped to shreds by critics. I have a soft spot for this movie, if watched as a dark comedy i do feel it has much to offer, a movie that was very much of its time but I think that's what makes it so enjoyable. I showed it to two friends who had not seen it before, did the ..read more

A movie I rented over and over from the video store as a kid. I loved it, as did a few friends of mine but the film seemed unheard of to anybody else. It was our little secret. Years later I discover we actually weren't alone and the movie has become a cult classic. It may have had less then great reviews, considered a rip-off of other movies and only made a third of it's budget back at the box-office but it has over time found it's audience who quote lines and watch it over and over. I recently re-watched it and showed it to three friends who had never seen it, here's our thoughts on this los ..read more

In 1985 Michael J Fox starred in one of the biggest movies of all time and was set to become a huge star. Back to the Future took the world by storm and is now considered a classic. The lesser acclaimed movie Teen Wolf was also released that year. In which Fox played a character not unlike Marty McFly, he didn't travel through time however, but did turn into a werewolf, win an important basketball match and learn a few things about life along the way. This movie didn't do too well with the critics but did make some money, spawn a cartoon series, one sequel (without Fox) and a reboot in the for ..read more

In this special episode we go back even further than the 80's and 90's and focus on a movie from the 1950's. Although made well before our time many 80s kids in the UK were brought up on comedies from this era on television, shown less these days they were popular summer holiday and weekend viewing for many of us. Norman Wisdom was my favourite comedian to star in these movies and this was the film of his I watched most, I showed it to James Rowe of King Street cinema and we chatted about our thoughts. He was new to the movie, would he like it as much as me ..read more

After Star Wars in the late 70's sci-fi was huge on both the big screen and on TV, Buck Rogers in the 25th century was one of my favourite shows growing up. I had no idea the pilot episode was released in cinemas and although it's pretty much forgotten it was a huge hit. I showed the movie to James Rowe, who had not seen it before. Would he love it as much as me ..read more
