Good day everyone, so ive waited for my L104 plecos to mature for the past year and a month ago they laid eggs and they hatched but was soon missing(there is nothing with them in the tank).
I just cant find any information on how regularly they breed and what specificly to do when the fry hatch and what to feed the fry and so on.
Thank you ..read more

I have some brittlenose plecos in a community tank and they’ve laid eggs about 3-4 times now. None of them have ever survived because I didn’t care enough to move them or my other fish out of the tank. This time I want them to survive, should I move my other 5 fish to another tank or is it possible to move just the male and his eggs into a separate tank to ensure they survive? Any advice is appreciated as this is my first time trying to keep the babies alive ..read more

Hi all, is RO water essential for breeding Zebra plecos?
I have a colony of 8 had them foe 4 years, not entirely sure of sex ratio, at a guess i would say 4 or 5 males, only going from the ones that are caving regularly.
Not bred yet, fully grown around10cm.

Hi I have a breading group of 4 wild L333 on his 5th clutch of eggs now for this year. I'm looking at selling, but I'm not 100% sure what to charge for them as ive been told £400 is to expensive I have said this price from working from the logic that I bought the group as 6 plecs for £600 but lost 2 so was just selling them for what the price of 4 would of been hope this makes sense. They are big size plecs now.
Whats everyone's thoughts on this please ..read more

hallo all! My male long fin bristlenose is guarding a huge pile of eggs in his cave. They were laid yesterday.
The female however keeps trying to get back into his cave. She is really fighting him to get back in. Is this normal? I havent yet experienced a female trying to get back into a cave yet! I know that other males can try and muscle in, to try and eat the other males eggs....do females do this too?
Should I move the male to a sepeerate tank so he can be in peace?....she is most...

well first you will need a 5 to 6 foot tank with a heater set at 24 degress a white led light black gravel and a peice of slat partly raised at the frount with a good size cape so the fish can get in and out they will breed on the under side top of the salat and the fry will start to hatch with in 24 to 36 hours when they breed in the wild it is near the edge of the muddy river bank and the dig out a long wide burrow in the mud and feeding the young is the same as u would bristle nose...

Complete noob here.
I have a few BN which I've had for maybe 6 weeks. Some Wabenmuster which I am smitten with and some plain brown ones which are growing on me.
My Wabenmuster male likes to sit under a piece of driftwood in the tank despite there being caves in there and today he kicked out a cluster of 10 or so eggs. Completely my fault., I didn't realise he was on eggs as all the caves are clear and was doing some tank maintenance.
I have them in a breeder box with an airstone...

I was just thinking that it may be handy for members to post what they are currently "breeding". It can then be referred by other members after advice on breeding a specific L number or for anyone trying to locate one.
I'm mainly a BN and cichlid breeder, so my pleco list is short
Common Bristlenose
Albino Bristlenose
Peppermint Bristlenose
Orangespot Bristlenose
Long Fin Common Bristlenose
almost forgot the Royal Whiptails
