A few days ago, I noticed my smaller EBA was hanging out a lot in the corner of my tank and it actually started to worry me. Kinda forgot about it after noticing she was fine and not doing anything worrying. Just got done cleaning some sponge filters I keep on the inlet ports of my HOB and canister; noticed that were strange ball things on some driftwood. Then it hit me. THOSE ARE EGGS. I'm kinda ecstatic; I've never had fish lay eggs... EBA eggs/fry ..read more

Hi, I had two Bay Snook Red which recently bred but they are eating their egg. It's been few hours since they laid egg. There was one bristlenose in the tank which I took out after suspecting it was eating egg and making snooks thing their egg are in danger. I think that's the reason why they are eating their egg but, what can I do with the eggs? Should take parents out? I have plenty of spare tanks. Or should I incubate egg(And how?)? ... I have a large male red devil or Midas in a 180 gallon with 7 female calico convicts. In the past my devil has successfully spawned with a female devil in this same tank. She is not in the tank anymore. At least 4 of the convicts had successfully spawned in another tank I have with male convicts. The devil and convicts have been together for at least 5 months. I imagine/hope some of the offspring would look pretty cool. Any suggestions to help get the magic going? Or is this just not... Any ideas to help my fish spawn ..read more

I just got my first spawn of African Pike characin (Hepsetus odoe). I got the pair at August, 2023 from local fish keepers and the group was only one pair (Picture is female). After almost 7 months of caring, I finally decided they are ready to breed and set up breeding tank when I don't have any bichirs to breed. 3rd day in spawning tank. In a second day in spawning tank, I recognize the body color and pattern... My first spawn of African pike characin (Hepsetus odoe ..read more

I have attempted to breed my bettas once. I would like advice. I am thinking about using an 8 1/2 x 8 1/2 x 7 1/2 Styrofoam container that is used to store new fish and get them acclimated. Is this too small or is it good? I put Indian almond leaves in my breeding container always ..read more

Breeding tropical/community fish in 200g pool during summer

I used to have lots of aquariums but then we had kids and moved and I took all the tanks down during the move and sold most of them. I always planned to get back into aquariums, but I certainly won't be putting up 10+ aquariums like I used to have. I just don't have the disposable income or time at the stage of life we are at that I used to. However, I am picking up a great 250g tank I hope to put in the house eventually tobe able to keep some of my favorite bigger fish. And while setting... Oscar and Green terror paired

So I have had 2 oscars, both of 3 inches, than a 2 inch green terror came along. The 2 oscars where always swimming together no issues. The green terror (female) mind her own business no problem, actually a little bossy to the oscars, oscars did not mind the terror at all. However, now things have change. One of the oscars has paired with the green terror, call him "the boss", chasing the other oscar, call him snuggly, (for pig, he stuffed his mouth with 5 mealworms), away when he comes...
