Aloha,
Interviewing for a position in Kihei and if I’m able to land it will want to bring at least a couple of my tanks with me. Understanding I can’t bring in any livestock, but would it be legal to ship in dry (dead) reef rock with intentions to cycle it and make it live upon setting up in Maui? Just finished aquascaping a 330 gallon and would like to bring the rock with me along with the tank. Mahalo in advance for any guidance ..read more

So looking though some searches it seems that coral keeping legally is not easy in Hawaii. I just sold all my livestock and tank but was planning to keep all my pumps, controller, and random equipment so I can set up a smaller cube when we arrive. Is it really hard to get coral as a hobbiest? I’m an SPS junkie do I need to take up surfing instead of reefkeeping ..read more

Hello,
I am moving to Hawaii and I want to take my fish with me. I'm wondering the best way to do this. At first I just planed to check them as cargo on the plane like they would be transported if ordering online. I thought I saw places that said this was allowed. Now I'm seeing that may not be possible and they need to go on the plane with you. If that's the case it's going to severely limit the amount and size of fish I can bring.
