I was back up on Long Island a few weeks back to attend the annual family Lobster party in Huntington. My pulled me aside and said he had something for me. He then pulled some of my grandfather's old fishing gear out and said that wanted me to have it. There was a couple of old rods that looked the worse for wear but one of them had on it an old Garcia Mitchell 306 surf reel. Aside from some oxidization on the chrome and the need for a good cleaning and greasing, it is in almost perfect... Granddad's old Garcia Mitchell 306 reel ..read more

Live Bait Shoreline Casting! How To Rig & Catch Bait! Today i'll show how to rig & cast LIVE reef fish to hopefully catch hungry predators. Days earlier in the same spot an entourage of freshly pupped Hammerhead Sharks were dominating the area. The normal residents like Trevally & Bonefish were probably chased out by these predators. I was hoping the freshly birthed pups would be gone & they were, but it seems today's targeted normal inhabitants failed to return. My fishing buddy Wayne... Using Live Reef Fish For Bait ..read more

CARRY UP TO 4 RODS ON YOUR NEXT FISHING OUTING! Where i fish some areas are to rugged for me to pull in my fishing utility wagon. So instead i use an insulated fish backpack & a bucket filled with my miscellaneous gear. Still need to carry my rod(s) and a net if necessary. I hate trying to bungee my long handled net or my rod to my backpack as it may snag a bush or low hanging branches. Then i found this on eBay & i thought of trying it. So i'm first letting others know of this product... CARRY YOUR ROD & REEL PORTABLE ROD RACK ..read more

I recently purchased my first 10-foot moderate action Lamiglass surf rod 3/4-4 ounce this year and have enjoyed the rod so far. I was fishing the 9 ft ODM Genesis prior which is great for lighter lure setups but wanted something better suited for large plugs. I've been using the a 5000 Penn Battle 3 and looking to uprade this winter to a better reel. I'm within budget to get something in the Van Staal price range for a reel that will perform and I can enjoy for awhile. Most importantly... Lamiglass/Van Staal Rod/Reel Pairing Question ..read more

Does anyone know where I can buy studded replacement soles (omnitrax) for this wading boot? I called Korkers but they no longer carry replacement soles for this version (I purchased them in 2009). Hoping someone out there still has a pair in stock. I would need them in size 15. Thanks in advance ..read more
