Hello everyone, been a while since I posted here. My son has been playing baseball a lot the last few years, a lot of traveling so my Florida vacations have had to take a back seat.
Looks like we got lucky this year and we're coming down to Santa Rosa Beach for some baseball for their spring break, Mar 9-14
This is our first stay in Santa Rosa Beach, I'm sure it'll be great. We've heard nothing but good things about the area.
My question is are there any publicly accessible beaches that...

Heading down to Rosemary Beach in June. Based on all the regulations I’ve read so far, I’m curious if they even allow fishing from the beach. Just trying to figure out if it’s worth bringing any fishing gear at all.
thanks ..read more

IAny magic temperature for pomps & whiting? Wondering how long wait until I try the surf again...
Understand there may be the stray red or drum along the beach and perhaps a sheepshead (cold water tolerant).
Follow up question.. do sand fleas disappear in the cold ..read more

Saltwater newbie here looking for some advice on which rod will be suited for what I'm after. I'm a lifelong freshwater fisherman but live a long way from the ocean. I do travel for work sometimes and for vacation and have taken charters or rented a basic setup when time allowed but I'm looking for a decent rod that can break down into multiple pieces to fit inside a checked bag yet still be strong enough to cast a heavy weight/larger bait a sufficient distance from the shore and handle big...

Anything good going on this time of year? Wanting to take a nice walk on the beach and throw some soft plastics. Am I wasting my time? Should I be targeting the deeper "pools"? I usually am a bait soaker but i feel like getting some steps in. Thank you very much ..read more

Hello!
I'll be down fishing the Navarre pier with my son in a week, we've never fished the area in the fall. I'm doing some reading about surf fishing, and we may want to try that to mix things up a bit. I was thinking of throwing spoons or lures as a change to setting out baits.
Any advice as to what type of lures and spoons are best in the surf (or bay side too) this time of year? I'm not looking for any particular fish, just anything that's fun to catch ..read more

We recently returned from a trip to Cape San Blas in August and we surf fished for the first time in decades. Despite the brutally hot weather, dodging the hurricane and typical slow mid-summer fishing we had a blast. The slow fishing was easy to overlook by just lounging on the beach, getting in the water to cool off, and enjoying the scenery.
We’re trying to determine if it’s worth a trip back before the weather gets too cool but we can’t get back until early November. Sitting on the...

Hey guys so I brought my kayak this year and considered taking it out past the sand bar. My question is do many fish cruise that depth or is it mostly sharks? Thanks as always ..read more
