Saw an auction on what was listed as a K31 7.5 Swiss/.308 Win. Thought that was rather strange. Sent the seller an email saying which one was it, since the cartridges are NOT the same. This guy is selling a boatload of milsurps, how could he screw it up that bad? Finally replied and said, yes it's a 7.5 Swiss, and changed the auction wording ..read more

Like the title says, does anyone know of a source that has buttplate screws for the K31? Or perhaps anyone here from a project and happen to have a spare? I took my K31 out into the woods and was doing quite a bit of shooting and walking and more shooting. Anyways, after I was done and got back to my car, I started to slide the rifle into its case when I noticed the bottom screw missing, I started panicking and took the other screw out to remove the plate and discovered I had also lost the... 1896/11 compared to a 1911 rifle

Were there any discernible changes to the rear tangent leaf sight or base mount between the 1896/11 and 1911 rifles? I can't see any differences myself, but then I've been told that I don't know it all. I want to mount an extra pistol scope on my 1896/11 using an S&K scout mount like the one I installed on my 1911. When I asked the S&K rep if their 1911 mount would fit on my 1896/11, she said,"No. What's a 1896/11?" And I didn't have to punch 1 for English. dz ..read more

Pictured is my K-31. It is very nice overall with a minty bore. I have fired precisely fifteen rounds out of this (the size of the one box of commercial I purchased). This was another online purchase ..read more

Crack in my Vetterli stock

My kid and I were looking at the old rifles on the wall tonight and noticed that the 1876 Vetterli has developed a very minor crack in the stock. It has been very dry this winter and I think that the lack of humidity is the cause. I’m thinking about giving it a good rubdown with a good wood oil. Does it really need attention? I think that in spring it will seal up anyway. What say the gallery ..read more

Scoped my K 31

Well after reading the very interesting thread about scoping here I decided to add a scope to my new K 31. I bought Latigo's scope mount from Brownells and I got a set of medium rise rings to mount the Pentax 4X12X40mm scope. The mount installation was simple with one screw. I added the rings and installed the scope. I got the medium rings because I was not sure about the bell clearing the leaf sight but as you can see there appears to be plenty of room so I am going to get a lower set of...
