HI folks My second plant order from APF included one Nymphaea Rubra (Dwarf Water Lily) bulb. I don't have a lot of tank space for tall plants, so I am very limited in plant choices. Anyhoo, I THOUGHT I had looked into the mature size of these bulbs, but I just looked around again at customer photos, which mostly show sprouting bulbs only, and there were a couple of mature ones that look WAY larger than I expected! Can anyone with experience with these easy plants share photos of their... Read more ..read more

Have been doing some deep cleaning and plant work during a large water change on my 15.5g tank with pygmy cories, otos, and endlers (right now, endlers will likely be going, or at least moved for now). I had a lovely anubius coffeefolia in there, and there's still some in the base plant (it's still in it's pot), but some parts of it had rotted, and lost a lot of leaves as a result. I removed the rotting parts, and the rotted leaves (tank smelled pretty bad, a lot of thick green algae and... Read more ..read more

I've got this plant that looks like a little lilly pad. I thought it would grow branches, but so far it's mostly single stalks growing tall. I cut a couple of them and haven't seen anything grow out of the part still in the ground. I'd like to shape it into some kind of bushy look, but not sure I can do it. What is this plant and how to I tend to it? Does it just grow straight up like that or can I coax it to branch and form a bushy-like appearance? Forgive the algae on them- I'm working... Hello everyone, and happy new year to everyone of you! I'd like to show you some pictures I took of plants in their natural environments. Keep in mind that all plants that I share are all native to Thailand. 1. Selaginella willdenowii 2. Bolbitis heteroclita 3. The karst spring - home to Cryptocoryne cordata var. siamensis and the endemic Betta simplex. To be continued ..read more

HI all! I did a search here, and noticed a lot of people ask the same question about their Java Ferns: WHAT ARE THE LITTLE LEAVES GROWING ON MY JAVA FERN? ... or... WHAT ARE THE SPOTS ON THE BOTTOM OF MY FERN'S LEAVES? I thought perhaps a catch-all thread about Java reproduction would be helpful (provided members use the "search" function before posting their question in a new thread). Old-hands can teach us newbies, perhaps share their experiences with... Read more ..read more
